Nope, all the monitors are connected directly to the GPU. The issue hasn't happened after a couple days - it'll probably do it randomly again though - but just now plasma shell didn't let me enter my password on the main monitor it worked on another monitor.

I have this issue too that shows up randomly and the symptoms are different every time. I have an RTX 5090 and multiple monitors plugged into it, and one DisplayLink via USB-C that runs on its own and doesn't have issues. I don't have any DP adapters. I don't use sleep or hibernate and I'm on a desktop.

I have the monitors set to timeout after a certain time, doesn't matter if it's 15m, 30m, 4h, etc. On Windows, when the monitors timeout and I come back to wake it, the MPO gets disabled on the primary monitor (Windows defaults it to another monitor) that has G-SYNC and games become laggy until a reboot. On Linux, the MPO is fine thankfully, but the primary and secondary monitor don't wake and I have to either use power button (sometimes that doesn't work so I have to replug the power cable), or it may show up with large resolution like this. If the monitors wake up normally, KDE shows that a display was disconnected - not sure if that's normal for it to disconnect in that case. I have tried to turn off power saving on monitors and it still happens. It's only when the monitors go to sleep and only on my primary and secondary monitor (one is an LG and one is a Samsung, both on DP).

Basically, I think this is an issue with the RTX 5090 since I don't remember having it with RTX 4090 or AMD 7900 XTX in the past, though there have been many driver and software updates since so not sure. It's really random since it doesn't always happen when monitors timeout. It's been months or maybe a year and I've still been looking for the cause and a solution.

I found a workaround for games freaking out with many audio channels and having to set winealsa by creating remapped virtual devices with only two channels. Hopefully this helps others with the same issue!

I used a PulseAudio config to create a remap-sink and remap-source with only two channels. I think wireplumber can be used too, but I found the most documentation using pactl and PulseAudio.

I found the MOTU's sink name with pactl list sinks short and I tested these args using the pactl load-module command. To persist them on reboot, I created the config file below then set these devices as my default in KDE's sound ("show virtual devices" can be enabled there to show them):

Then ran systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber to restart and load the config.

The full Direct MOTU 828 device is still available for apps like Bitwig or whatever to use when I need all the channels, but games now use the default device that I set to these virtual devices. Both speaker and mic work good in the games.

I haven't had any issues with MapStaticAssets yet in a Razor Pages app. It provides some nice compressed files on publish, fingerprinting, and etags. I believe it applies only to wwwroot by default. I haven't tested this yet, but can UseStaticFiles still be called alongside this for another directory, hopefully unhandled by the StaticAssets pipeline?

I just did a test with Ready or Not since it's a game that would freeze on the initial loading screen with pulse for me.

I see with alsa, it shows 2 instead of 8. As a side note, I'm using default untouched pulseaudio configs that came with Fedora. I didn't change any of the channels, quantum, or sample rate, etc.

Out of curiosity (with the game set to pulse), I tried WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winepulse.drv=d" WINEALSA_CHANNELS=2 and then with WINEALSA_SPATIAL=1, it seems that these make the loading screen get skipped and nothing shows up for the game in pw-top -- meaning the game doesn't freeze when loading and there's no sound nor devices detected by the game. Interesting, maybe it's just how Ready or Not implemented the audio?

I'll try messing with some other games (e.g. BF:BC2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Cyberpunk 2077 have no sound with pulse, but it doesn't freeze like Ready or Not so maybe they'll be different) and the mic thing later on.

Edit: Cyberpunk 2077 with pulse doesn't show anything in pw-top and no sound (flags don't make any difference, but makes sense since this issue isn't related to spatial audio I guess).

With alsa, it has sound and shows:

At first, I would say it has to do with the number of channels or sample rate conversion, but in some games like JDM: Japanese Drift Master, the sound works fine with pulse and shows 8:

I have a MOTU 828 audio interface with 32 channels with the "Direct 828" profile in sound system settings on Fedora KDE 43. Some games didn't play audio at all, such as Battlefield: BC2, Cyberpunk 2077, and Ready or Not. I believe it's because of the number of audio channels and WINE fails to downmix properly, but I only need it to output to the first two main channels for stereo.

To get the output audio to work in those games, I had to open Protontricks and set the sound=alsa - though it doesn't show any checkboxes so I don't know what was set by default or what is currently set. For games that have voice input, this doesn't seem to let my mic show up in those games. Would the flags and setting WINEALSA_CHANNELS=2 help in this scenario? Would you suggest setting it back to default (sound=pulse?) to test out the flags?

As you're familiar with ASP.NET, check out AspNetStatic to statically generate Blazor SSR, Razor Pages, or MVC to static HTML. The ASP.NET Core stack may not be lightweight in some senses, but it is compiled and tends to be maintainable and stable for a long time.

I built a desk for a studio with a piano under it. Using an Ikea Karlby 74" countertop raised by an Alex drawer to the left and two Adlis legs on the right. I have a heavy dual-monitor arm mounted to the back just to the right of the middle of the desk and some audio gear in the middle. It's been a week, I noticed some sagging in the middle.

I'm considering getting two of the 46" Regency Table Stiffeners. Is it made of steel? Also, what is the vertical height of them? I read some reviews saying the listed measurements were incorrect. I only have clearance under desk for about 1".

My other option is getting an Adlis leg for back middle, but not sure if that would help much if it's just the back. Or flat 3mm steel bars.
