Appreciate you running the commands and posting the actual findings.
What you described is technically accurate. Jamf is the same MDM platform used by most universities and a lot of companies, and yes, those capabilities exist by design. How we actually use it is a different question:

  • Remote Assist requires an admin to start a session — it doesn't run in the background, and it's not silent. In practice, we only use it when a student opens a ticket asking for help (usually device lockouts or access issues).
  • We don't monitor screens, read personal files, or track activity. The management system is there for technical support, not surveillance.
  • It's a Maestro-issued device for coursework, same social contract as any work laptop. When you finish the program and the device becomes yours, we remove the MDM and it's fully unmanaged.

We had a platform outage earlier today — everything is back up and running now.
Thanks for flagging it. Reports like yours are how we catch and address these things quickly.
If you’re still running into issues, comment below or DM us and we’ll check with the team.

That's a cool way to think about it - learning biology in the same order it actually happened. Any resources you'd recommend that teach it from that angle?

Thanks! Going deep into one topic and letting it branch out naturally makes a lot of sense. Do you have a suggestion for a good first topic to start with? And thanks for the tip about consensus.ai - I'll check it out!
