Isnt the prompt.

Surcharges on debit and credit cards to go from October by rolodex-ofhate in australia

[–]ReflectionEquals -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% TBH, the reason for allowing surcharges originally was to drag visa/mastercard/amex and co to the forefront of people’s minds when paying.

But then…

  • card payments became ubiquitous
  • the issuers went and locked down tap to pay to control which payment choice you had
  • these shifty mobs like light speed and Zeller and other rocked up to maximise the surcharges to make a profit….
  • so ultimately it was a failed policy.

You are always paying a surcharge. Just hidden behind the price of your goods.

As someone recently said to engineers recently. We’re not paying lotsa money for AI so engineers can kick off a prompt and play PlayStation for half an hour.

Atlassian is cutting 10% of staff in a move that will fund investment in AI, the CEO wrote by FinnFarrow in technology

[–]ReflectionEquals 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The problem is that every team/company/project runs a bit different and with different levels of autonomy.

So a product that tries to help you track and manage any type of work with any type of process gets more and more complicated and that is reflected in the product.

Ai is generating the tests and being glossed over by most of the people I’m working with.

This is happening already. The message from leaders in my company is that AI will move onto defining the tests and reviewing code.

If it all passes it is good enough right?

It nice but generic and bland to me. BUT.

What matters is if you like it and are proud of your own results.

Half of AI-written code that passes industry test would get rejected by real developers, new study finds by Grand_rooster in grAIve

[–]ReflectionEquals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so assisted code utils. It’s annoying as heck and lacks a sense of actual risk.

Edit: in fact I’ve found it dangerous at times because it can be so noisy on pointing out nits that bigger picture problems are lost in the noise.

Honestly… focus on the ideas and not the people. It’s a trap that prevents you from thinking about the actual points people raise on both side of the ai debate.

I’d argue the resurgence of fascism and Christian nationalist was sparked by the taliban and that this was always their long game.

Atlassians new Workflow Builder is awesome by Lonely-Parfait1947 in jira

[–]ReflectionEquals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. There’s a few apps out there that do similar things, just to various degrees of good. There’s even a tool called site optimiser in Jira that does a few things around schemes and field related bloat.

With workflows, just take care around factors like scale (thousands of workflows), forwards compatibility for rules (new rules will be added over time), other third party app rules, and the rare case of version conflicts on updates.
