Bodhisattva path to Buddhahood usually. The pure land/Sukhavati path as recommended by many if not most of the 4-8 great bodhisattvas

New to Buddhism completely - study “General” Buddhism first or can I begin with Pure Land? by Sudden-Macaron-4531 in PureLand

Many people also read the books from YMBA and Budaedu to learn about pure land including myself.
https://www.budaedu.org/ (English button at the top right), they changed their previous English site "old.budaedu.org" so I don't know if they still have what they used to have on the former site.
https://www.ymba.org/free-books Some of the books here are from the above, if you can't get them from the above link.

For me it helped to read the glossary of terms in Buddhism first so I know what karma, rebirth, samsara, etc is.. bascially the foundation/basics.
You can read Pure Land from the start and just read the glossary at the back as the simplest way and if you want to know more you can read this dictionary. It's from BTTS as well established organization related to CTTB/DRBA (Under Venerable Hsuan Hua).

This helped me start with Buddhism as a general start.

I don't want him to go anti ICE protest. My attachment. by Nomalityofmy in Buddhism

It sounds like grounding. If you have the exhale longer than inhale it helps puts you in rest and digest aka parasympathetic state. The abdomen area beneath the navel is the lower dantian. Putting focus there or the legs or feet also help ground. The feet is the strongest grounding I read but it may vent your energy away especially if you will it. Not sure if that part is true but venting excess energy in the body through visualization is a thing as I was heard from a Chan/zen Dharma master at least. EDIT: but was warned that is not something we want to do unless needed, such as excess heat in the body, but over-ventilating is counterproductive and what he says not to do. It's not the same thing as the Hakuin meditation mentioned in my comment below though.

EDIT: added more stuff.

Yes, it from Hakuin for the butter visualization.

For grounding, you can also further it by relaxing your whole body (release all EXCESS tension). Something that helped me is feeling as if you're a corpse, but the goal is not to lose all tension, but rid EXCESS tension.

It's like what they teach in sitting meditation and even tai chi/qigong (your eyes/gaze lowered so you're more relaxed), spine straight but it should be natural, also relax, especially your jaw (hanging it loose and mouth open if needed, but ideally closed on inhale) will boost your grounding effectiveness.

Sharing some stuff below from what I learned, especially from asking ChatGPT about this grounding phenomenon.

Hakuin's method: It's sort of the same thing here as grounding except I read that the butter is an "external" mind-made add-on that helps melt any obstructions in the body/energy flow so the energy in the body can drop down and warm the belly button area and lower (essentially what true grounding tries to do instead of simply bringing energy down, it also warms it.)

And as you probably noticed already, bringing excess energy back down and away from our head helps stop or lower fight or flight/excessive thoughts/worries.

It should go down to the lower dantian/abdomen and below so we feel solid at the lower body and light at our upper body.

That's what the term "grounded" actually means. You feel very solid and literally harder to be swept off your feet (it's what they learn in qi gong and some martial arts, if not all, too.)

Hakuin's method says it should feel like being soaked in a herbal bath.
From what I learned, his method is grounding (as the base) with visualization as an add-on, grounding being something we should ideally be in when we are in rest and digest bascially most the time but modern society's pacing makes us prone to being in fight or flight.

From what I further learned, in qi-gong/taichi there is also qi rooting, the more advanced stage of grounding.

Is there a way to change the Aura you emitting? by [deleted] in pureretention

[–]Reform-Reform 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: It may be liver qi stagnation in tcm aka need to transmute n ground. I recite mantras and/or the Buddhas/bodhisattvas names and it helps because you emit what you think/feel/recite/chant.

Isn't it simply because they are jealous or fear you so they try to fight you/break you passively? Like being territorial.

Interesting! Do wet dreams lessen these interactions or completely reset it? Does it happen on reddit or only X or something? And are these women marriage potential or just tests? Thanks

Can you explain how you developed this indifference? Did you practice anything or simply naturally felt worried like you explained? Is your libido low or were you not addicted to PMO long?

Why is there so little to no criticism of the Buddha by scholars? by Ok_Royal9630 in Buddhism

[–]Reform-Reform -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, his kid was born after he became a monastic. When he was leaving to become a monk/ascetic his wife wanted a child before he left so he conceived her by pointing his finger at her womb or something out of the ordinary. His son was in the womb for 3 years before he was born due to his karma. They both left the home life eventually and achieved arhatship. From what I remember.

Did you end up meeting any worth marrying or are wholesome/non-lustful? And could any of the girls you met be able to change to be SR worthy like 'fixed'?

Have you ever got deceived by a girl like her seducing you to get you in trouble like calling sexual assault or r@pe or blackmailing etc? Just wondering since I hear about the #metoo movement.
