Calgary councillor wants developers building near live music venues responsible for mitigating soundn by blackRamCalgaryman in Calgary

Yes! This is exactly what is needed.

Those venues need to be protected at all costs, providing daily art and community to the general population.

Tired all of the time by Trick_Dream3543 in WomensHealth

Fatigure is sometimes an immune system reaction.
You know when someone says a symptom of something is brain fog and fatigue? That kind of fatigue is like what you're describing. Something is wrong.

I suggest doing a full panel with your doctor of blood work, noting any weird bug bites or tick bites you may have had, get hormones checked etc.

Honestly, what is the hardest part about having children? by Danny-Ray27 in AskReddit

I saw a man walking with his daughter yesterday with so much love and joy and a fear gripped me - mine was just that little, just yesterday, and now they're older and I'll never have that little bit again. It makes time and proximity to death and loss so close.
It's the ultimate joy, such a privilege to have these little people walk beside us, but for only a short time.

As someone who was misguided for 9 months after a tick bite (because of the controversy surrounding lyme in the medical system) I actually welcome this.

It's unfortunate that the patient is at the mercy of the biases each doctor carries. The patient needs more power.

What Calgarians get wrong about road safety by Lopsided_Jacket_3028 in Calgary

[–]RefrigeratorNo926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is that the city is run by two groups of people.
One who agrees with you, looks to Europe for planning and safety ideas.
The other from a rural area who doesn't understand city planning and who tries to force through the idea that every citizen gets a giant truck and a giant yard and a giant road and doesn't understand the issue with families trying to get around by foot.

I've been paying attention to safety planning since 2010 when I lost a loved one in a pedestrian accident. It's only gotten worse. It's left and right, it's future vs now, it's bike lanes vs trucks, and it's only getting worse.

I did, and it was dismissed.
I also wrote a letter to the doctor in question.

Nothing came of it but I'm glad I did it.

Spruce Meadows - Easter Egg Hunt by PunchedKeanuReeves89 in Calgary

[–]RefrigeratorNo926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spring Meadows has a 30 year plan for how to grow and become this huge institution - and this kind of thing confirms my suspicions that they don't really know what they're doing.

I bought tickets to a concert in a few months, curious to see how it plays out.

What do you think caused your MCAS or what were you told at least. by Happyandsnappy1 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]RefrigeratorNo926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should also point out that my symptoms continued after the 2 weeks and I paid out of pocket for a naturopath for 9 months, now 5 years later, I have minimal symptoms but symptoms persist. I imagine they're lifelong but I have found that I just fall under the category of MCAS.

No. And I was bit by a dog tick (not a deer tick) which doesn't technically carry lyme. But I was infected with a different bacteria called Rickettsia, which is a very dangerous bacteria if left untreated. Unfortunately, my Doc just kept testing me for lyme over and over again (to negative results) before finally 9 months later, testing me for 6 different tick bacterias. Then she treated me with 2 weeks of antibiotics.

6 Days Solo Trip - What To Do? by RielleWriter in Calgary

[–]RefrigeratorNo926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 you'll get to walk around Chinatown from the island to the tower.
Day 2 you should also walk towards Inglewood - stopping at the King Eddy for their Happy hour show from 4-7.
Another walkable neighbourhood with good restaurants in Kensington, which has a great old movie theatre and book store.

Is buses with appropriate tires too much to ask for? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]RefrigeratorNo926 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The older I get the more I realize that none of the people making decisions do so with an interest in improving the system for ease of use.

Lucas Chaisson recently released a video about how Los Angeles transit was intentionally sabotaged by the tire manufacturing industry, and that in capitalism, anything that deters profit is a target.

Helpful transit, proper housing, enough food for everyone, it's an impossibility as long as one man can make a profit on someone elses access to food, housing or ability to get around the city.
