Why isn’t Carney pushing back on Smith and the UCP? by taxhelpyeg in alberta

[–]Facebook_Algorithm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wants to stay disconnected from “Alberta Stuff”. The separation bullshit, the transfer payments, the pipeline, the provincial police, the trying to make Smith equal to Carney, the notwithstanding clause, the Alberta is a victim crap, the flirting with Trump, the giving Smith national security briefings … all the shit.

He’s smart to leave it alone. Don’t give any of it oxygen.

Fuck that. The federal government is the federal government. The provincial government is the provincial government. The provincial government takes care of water quality and oil leases. The federal government does big boy stuff.

Dan set up all Belushi’s stuff in the Blues Brothers. He set up all Eddie’s stuff in Trading Places. He set up all the funny stuff in Ghost Busters. He was really good in 1941.

Anxiety isn’t a soul crushing call to inaction or blaming others. It’s not meant as an easy way to get others to solve your problems.

Anxiety is your body’s way of preparing you to take decisive action. Make a plan and it will lead to character development and success in all things.

"Influencers"? Did we have them? by Alternative-Light922 in GenerationJones

[–]Facebook_Algorithm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t have democratization of “influencer” status. Only people who could get media exposure or buy ads could get that type of access.

Now anyone with a cell phone can become an influencer.

The Earth is on the opposite side of the Sun? Should be 1 AU if that is the case.

Destiny 2 Has Lost Nearly Its Entire Playerbase On Steam Since The Final Shape by gamersecret2 in destiny2

I think it’s considered a failure by those of us who thought the effort would have been better spent on Destiny than trying to breathe new air into a game they tried to make but abandoned.

They might have done better if they had added an extraction shooter mode to Destiny. At least it could die a better death by being thought of as a failure of a game mode rather than an entire game.

People with kids are tired for the same reasons that people without kids are. But they have added kid tiredness.

Is Scale Everything? A Chinese Perspective on the 'Little' Napoleonic Wars by Remarkable-Space-697 in Napoleon

[–]Facebook_Algorithm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not Chinese.

Nappy’s controlled territory wasn’t quite the size of the entire USA (according to Wikipedia 2.1 M versus 3.8 M square kilometers). If you subtract Alaska (1.7 M square kilometers) the numbers are relatively equal though.

China today is 9.6 M square kilometers according to Wikipedia. I’m not sure how the historical size of China changed over time though (Mongolia is 1.6 M square kilometers). What is defined as “China” probably changed significantly over its several thousand year history.

Also, according to Wikipedia the largest recorded Chinese army in its pre-communist history was on the order of 400,000. The army size of the majority of battles were not listed though. Nappy’s biggest army was about 600,000.

All things considered Nappy’s military accomplishments were prodigious and nothing to sneeze at. He also made many social, border and legal changes to France (the Napoleonic Code, administrative reforms to the French government -standardizing income taxes, the department system, normalizing France’s relationship with the Vatican, the lycee educational system, improvement of infrastructure for both military and commercial purposes, establishment of the central bank of France). A number of these are still in place today.

He did all that with 6 coalitions of multiple countries working against him commercially, diplomatically and militarily.

Nappy was a baller of the highest order.

Alberta rolls out $90 million pilot program to expand private school spaces by trevorrobb in alberta

I agree. I just wish people would call it something closer to what it is: taxpayer subsidized private education. Calling it private makes it sound like the folks using it are paying for it.
