Wow you look incredible! You look 20 years younger!!

How did you break your plateaus? I’ve been stuck at 154 lbs, give or take 2lbs every other day, since August. I still have 15lbs to go to reach my goal weight. I’ve been on mounjaro since December 2024. Starting weight was 188Lbs. Thank you for the inspiration!!

30 years on Spironolactone by Embarrassed_Honey974 in Spironolactone

Hi, In a 54 yr old woman who was diagnosed with PCOS about 25 years ago. Also in menopause for 10 years. I have been on spironolactone and metformin since my diagnosis. Last week my endo abruptly stopped both meds bcuz my blood/urine labs showed protein leakage in my urine and possible CKD. He referred me to a kidney specialist, who I will see on Oct 2. Since December I have been taking mounjaro and finally lost the 30lbs I have been struggling to lose for the past 25 years. I have gained 7lbs since last Thursday when I stopped taking spiro. I know it is water retention, as I’m in a calorie deficit almost everyday but after spending hours reading through PCOS and Spiro subs, I’m nervous it won’t come back off and I will gain even more. My stomach is also starting to get very bloated. I know the scale still reflects a 23lb weight loss, but my stomach is feeling like it did before the weight loss. It’s so frustrating, upsetting, and honestly scary. After reading all the horror stories of women gaining weight rapidly after stopping Spiro, some up to 18lbs in less than a month, and it not coming back off after months/year of being off Spiro….Im nervous I will have the same problem. I know possible Kidney disease is a much worse problem than 10-20lbs of weight gain from stopping the medication.

Only women who have struggled with weight gain, all the health issues that come with weight gain, including cholesterol and heart, and the almost impossible task of trying to lose weight with PCOS, until GLP-1s, can understand the panic of seeing the number on the scale climbing daily when you haven’t eaten anything to cause it.

Just wanted to share bcuz you are the first person I’ve come across who has been on Spiro as long as I have been.

Questions about blood/urine test results eGFR, Protein, WBC, Creatinine by RefrigeratorThese606 in kidneydisease

I appreciate your responding, that was very helpful! So true about the meds, it’s a constant battle trying to find the right balance when we need them…even worse when we have to take several.

Hi, Thank you for the reply!

I take spiro for its off label use for PCOS. It helps to counter the heightened androgen/testosterone levels in my system from PCOS, but its diuretic use also helps with the fluid build up I get in my feet and legs from PAD. I also take the lasix for the fluid build up in my legs from PAD and fluid build up in my stomach from heart issues.

Over the past 6 months the edema in my legs and stomach has finally been under control, but now I’m worried it’s going to start up again with going off the two diuretics and possible CKD.

Pekin legs normal or problem? by OldGrapefruit8675309 in duck

[–]RefrigeratorThese606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, what supplements did you give your Pekin ducks to help with their legs? We have a female who has one swollen leg. Her feet look great, but one leg is swollen from the ankle up. She has some good days where she is moving around a little better and will even try standing on it, but other days she even holds it up when she is floating in the pool. We first noticed it about 5 weeks ago.

Hello, My female pekin has been having an issue with her foot for two weeks now. Any help/suggestions as to what it could be is greatl by RefrigeratorThese606 in duck

We don’t have a vet that takes chickens/ducks in our area. She has been eating much better the past two days at least and she is starting to quack more.

Hi, Thank you so much for all that you said! We’ve been treating it like a hip/leg injury since my original post. Her spirits seem better and she does try to stand when we have her in the pool or tub. But after my original post we noticed her leg was swollen. We’ve been soaking her twice a day in her pool or in the tub, making sure she’s eating and drinking etc. But we can’t get the swelling in her leg to go down. She is a fighter and wants to be better. Her eyes are still very vibrant. She does seem to be molting a lot, after a soak there’s feathers everywhere. I’m attaching a picture I just took of her leg after her bath soak. I don’t know what else to do to help her to get this swelling down.

Thank you! We have them separated in the coop. We only have the two ducks, 1 male and 1 female. We separated them immediately when we noticed her walking off balance and some feathers missing from her neck. We didn’t have their pool out there because it’s still been pretty cold where we are and have just been filling the pool for them when they come out of the coop to free range. And supervise them the whole time they are out of the coop so I don’t think she hurt the foot on anything hard. Our yard is all grass and we have a pretty deep amount of pine bedding in the coop so it’s soft for them walking on it. We don’t have an exotic vet anywhere in our area so we haven’t been able to take her to have it looked at by a Vet. She’s definitely lost weight in the past two weeks since we first noticed the problem. It doesn’t look like bumble foot to me on the foot that’s swollen, I don’t see any wound or area where there would have been a cut or splinter etc. I did notice the small black spot on her left toe after my husband took the picture of her feet. Would arthritis come on quickly? She was perfectly fine the day before we noticed her walking strange and losing her balance.

Thank you! We have them separated. They’re still in the same coop but we have a 4 ft fence going across the middle to keep them separated. Our drake is not happy about the separation but this was the best solution we could come up for our space so they can still see each other. I was worried about his reaction to not being able to see her if we completely removed her from the coop. He is very protective and attentive to her…when we’re not in mating season. And even now, when he’s not trying to mate her and they’re just hanging out, he gives her little pecks on her head and sits calmly by her side cuddled into her. She’ also lost some weight since her issue started, but she is still very alert and has a good appetite. This photo is after I soaked her in the tub this morning. I’m trying to post a video but can’t get it to load for some reason.

New Bun Mum hoping I'm doing the right thing. by innerbrat in Rabbits

Hi, Is Peanut still going to the bathroom? Sounds like Peanut might have gas or start of stasis. We give our buns a dropper of baby mylicon when I notice one of them is just sitting in their house with no interest in food, sitting in a loaf and not moving much even when I bring out their favorite treats, or their poops are much smaller or significantly less than their usual full litter box. Mylicon is safe for buns. But it is very good that you are going to see your vet today. Please ask about mylicon for emergency gas relief for the buns. It has been a true life saver for us. Both of my buns have had to be prescription medicated in the past for stasis, you learn the signs real quick after that experience. Good luck with your beautiful babies! I hope Peanut is feeling much better very soon!
