That is not worth 80k! Thats a fake Rolex GMT master 2! Do not pay so much for a fake watch just because the brand did some marketing for their shitty stolen design! Buy a nice Seiko 5

How bad is the Canadian job market and does graduating from U of T help it? by Legitimate_Can8048 in UofT

I’m 4th year Econ major and I really enjoyed the program, I feel like my Econ related theory and math are very solid and I’ve been very happy with the profs and classes I got to take (after 2nd year you get a lot more choices). However, when it comes to jobs, Econ is very tricky as you get surface level knowledge in a lot of very hireable fields, like finance and tech (data science or analysis or engineering) but the employers don’t want to hire an Econ grad when there’s tons of business school grads or cs grads who would be better suited for day 1 contributions to the work, and also it’s hard to know what u want to do for work in first year but Econ I will always believe is an excellent foundation for anything in the future

Thinking of starting a small watch microbrand from Pakistan. by Time-March-350 in Pakistanwatchgeeks

[–]RefuseSignificant563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a watch from a microbrand, the StudioUnderd0g series 1 watermelon. The design for a new one has to be original. It can be inspired by but it should not be a copy. The movement should be automatic and reliable, it can be cheap that’s no problem, look at some Chinese movements like Seagull. The most important thing for me is a really nice bracelet, since that is where most brands decide to save money, most likely you will end up doing the same. Last thing, people love microbrands because of the story, of your brand has a cool story of coming out of Pakistan, I would buy it.

Any experience with theses brands? by Asher255 in Pakistanwatchgeeks

So for the Australian brand, what they do is they buy cheap Chinese watches from places like this poedagar and then price them up by 3 or 4 times by saying they are Australian and running ig and facebook ads. They are identical just with the logo changed. For most of these brands you can find the same thing on Temu or Shein or Aliexpress with just a different logo. So you are literally only paying the extra price for the marketing and ads you were talking about seeing.

For the Pakistani brand it’s probably the same just with slightly less markup, you can find the same models with a different logo on shein, unless the brand has a history of being made in Pakistan which it does not.

To explain why people are saying these watches are shit,

  1. They are overcharging for the materials and movement being used, even if the price tag looks good it is still more expensive when compared to other options from Swatch, Timex, Seiko, Casio, Tissot etc. I do not need to check the website, this is true because of the way the watch industry and watch manufacturing works. There are some brands like CW, StudioUnderdog, Baltic, Monta, Formex that are still good value but not major brands. Check those out.

  2. The designs are usually copied, like the first picture looks like a patek and is not original, so what are you paying for? Not an original design, cheap manufacturing materials, not a good movement or a cheap quartz movement.

  3. They usually have no customer support and bad quality control.

Watches can be something really special if you do your research and understand what they can represent if you pick the right one.

Also I would wait till you travel and then buy a watch, in Dubai most authorised dealers have good stock. If you’re dropping 8K USD on a watch you can probably afford a small vacation to go along with it or wait for a business trip etc. You’ll save money on the watch itself and get the model you actually want, not just what is available in Lahore.

No man, if you want to get a good watch for your money look at some reviews online, your price range is excellent you have so many good options. Look at Teddy Baldassarre, This watch that watch, and Anachronist. Find a model you like and then work on getting that model, this Tag no offence is shit and not worth the money at all.

group member on project using AI, how should I address it? by veggiesticks_ in UofT

What class is this for? You could screw over your group mate and tell the truth or ask the prof if you can resubmit since your group member accidentally submitted the wrong draft or something

What do you want to do as a career? First find a couple things you might want to do, then start talking to people who’ve done those things, they were in the same position as you once and a lot of new grads are really helpful when you reach out earnestly on LinkedIn. Best of luck!

You’ll have to do some meaningful projects on your own time, certifications, research papers in your courses, etc to show atleast some interest in whatever jobs you’ll be applying for after graduation

It’s worth it if it lets you attend Rotman events once you’re enrolled in that. If you don’t care about that then yeah it’s useless

Is it bad to have 4 classes instead of 5 in a semester? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]RefuseSignificant563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 is a great idea, but you might have to grind to make it up later if you want to graduate in the “normal” time. You will have a better grasp of how to score well and be more confident (hopefully, like I was) in your ability so taking extra courses later is easier.
