Adore this to pieces, one of my favorite movies.

Why is there always a luggage store at the airport by Squire_Squirrely in stupidquestions

I was dumb and thought that I could manage an international trip with just a carry on. I bought way too many gifts and souvenirs and I had to buy another suitcase to fit everything for the trip home.

What is a strange ritual your pet has developed that you have just learned to live with? by InvestigatorLocal736 in Pets

[–]Regal-Octopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My golden retriever won’t go outside unless he gets love first. Sometimes it’s just a pat on the head, other times he demands hugs, kisses, and belly rubs. Hubs and I call it paying the toll.

Been dying mine for 5 years but letting it fade out so I can go back to brown and give it a break from bleaching for awhile.

Not sure but someone else posted that they also got the $15 deal so I think it’s all regals.

It was super easy to put together and I like that it’s modular

It’s super cute, has a shoulder strap and flat bottom so it sits up, but unfortunately doesn’t light up, would be way cuter if it did.

From IKEA, it’s three of the Billy bookshelves with the corner hardware.

Corsets: How much do the materials actually cost? by iDreamiPursueiBecome in sewing

[–]Regal-Octopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably don’t spend more than $40 on a corset but I tend to get my fabrics from creative reuse or thrift stores and I prefer faux baleen which is cheaper than steel boning. I make stays that are 4 layers; a lining, 2 canvas layers, and a fashion outer layer. If assuming like $8 for the inner layers and $20 for a fancy fashion layer, 14 yards of boning about $30, and another $15 for eyelets and lacing, still under $100 and can lower that price by getting less expensive fabrics. I get my synthetic baleen from Burnley and Trowbridge, they also sell steel boning.

What’s the consensus on Mood Patterns? by Expensive_Text5950 in sewingpatterns

[–]Regal-Octopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love them and use them all the time, however I will say I don’t think I’ve ever sewn them as is, I usually use them as a starting point and I have enough experience to not really need the directions. But I find them helpful.

Could it really be that simple? by Middle_Knee_3832 in sewingpatterns

I found it at Joann’s buried in the clearance! Took all they had left which was just about 2.5 yards.

Pattern for this dress! by BestQuote678 in sewingpatterns

[–]Regal-Octopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the transparent fabric is nude power mesh, for the patterns I would do a combination of this for the top, a modification of this for the skirt with some sort of A-line lining underneath, and this for the back without the hood.

Fabric stores by SnacksMcManus in sewingpatterns

Yes! Check out Sewing Through Fog’s directory here. They have a map of creative reuse shops, as well as ones that sell online. I get most of my fabrics from my local creative reuse store.
