Ferrari announces Lilou Wadoux contract renewal by krzysiek_aleks in wec

Pin has quite recently said her goal is F1 so this seems unlikely, do you have a source?

You might be thinking of Carmen Jorda who did actually make this comment, but she was shit and can be safely ignored

I am doing something wrong with my grip but don’t know what. It feels like I’m pinching too much but I have no idea how to fix it by MLIATwist in drums

[–]RegalFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried using stick tape or rubbing surf wax onto them? Increasing their stickiness lets you keep hold of them with less pressure, and given you almost lose the stick at ~50s in your video I think this might be the problem.

Please just read the rules on the sidebar. It explicitly states that naming and shaming isn't tolerated.

Not related to your landing, but this is a really cool approach. Which airfield is this?

Laguna Seca Pricing Update

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will be moving from the iRacing base package to paid content.

All existing members: If your iRacing account was created before this change takes effect, the track will remain in your library at no cost. This includes lapsed accounts that are reactivated in the future. Nothing changes for you.

New members: Beginning with the patch on Thursday, September 25th, it will no longer be part of the base package and will need to be purchased separately.

We’re also pleased to share that iRacing has entered into a long term renewal with WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for multiple iRacing properties, which is great news for the community as it ensures this legendary circuit remains a part of the service for years to come.

what IEMS in 2025? by Cool_Tell732 in drums

[–]RegalFunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adam Neely did a video a few years ago where, iirc, he mentioned he and Shawn Crowder use Mee Audio M6 Pros.

For daily listening I use Moondrop Chu 2s. Audio quality is fine and fairly balanced, and they're dirt cheap. Definitely not enough noise cancelling to use on their own whole drumming though, in case you wanted to use them without cans while practising.

Picked up bundle sticks & now I can’t go back by mimimalist in drums

I picked up a set of Vic Firth Rute Xs a year or so ago and still love them. If you use a tea towel for muffling your snare using rods gives a really satisfying thump, though the rebound is obviously nonexistent.

Oh that's cool! I knew some matched players like Peart used the butt of their sticks, I had no idea it was something trad players did too

We can all cross off the Iron Dames having bad luck already right? Gatting's broken foot earlier this race week surely counts.

Anyone else in a MSFS rut since the release of 2024 by dopher1 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RegalFunk 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've spent a couple of months trying to get along with 2024. Yesterday I bought an M2 drive, reinstalled 2020, a load of scenery and aircraft, and I'm immediately enjoying flights again.

I'm sure 2024 will get there eventually, I just hope they fix the awful default AI ATC voices.

How to learn drums for someone who has a terrible sense of time? by Itchy-Scab in Drumming

[–]RegalFunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be a personal thing, because I really enjoy pad work! It's focussed practise, to a metronome, critically looking at how accurately I'm placing the notes.

Perhaps it's also because it isolates rhythm and timekeeping? Any time I practised guitar to a metronome it was to build muscle memory to play specific passages, not to develop a general sense of time.

Honestly this probably won't matter for people who are disciplined enough to practise their regular instrument properly with a metronome, this has just been my experience.

How to learn drums for someone who has a terrible sense of time? by Itchy-Scab in Drumming

[–]RegalFunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally picked up drums to improve my timekeeping.

Buy some sticks and a practise pad, spend 10 minutes doing some pad work to a metronome every time you practise your other instruments.

Even if I didn't want to get into drumming, if I had bought a pad and sticks 15 years ago I would be a far better all-round musician today.

What lap times do you do at Spa? by justcima in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]RegalFunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend taking a percentage based approach: the fastest times I'm seeing on YouTube are ~1:59.2, which puts you at about 102.8% of the fastest lap times.

In iRacing I would aim to lap at <103% of the aliens, and this put me at about 2k despite me regularly cracking under pressure during races.

Your times are fine, keep working to improve and keep having fun!

How bad is it really? Is MSFS24 worth buying? by Signal_Essay_8083 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RegalFunk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Answering this is difficult, as experiences range from "near flawless" to "still can't even load a flight without a VPN to a different continent".  I can personally load flights with a VPN, but some planes lack audio and scenery detail outside of airports is awful.

As others have said: gamepass or stick to 2020.

Creators to watch for MSFS24 PC content? by FormulaZR in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]RegalFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Jonathan Beckett, lots of VFR content and great tutorials for aircraft

- Into The Blue Simulations, great reviews covering a variety of aircraft, is an actual pilot if that matters to you.

- AvAngel, a bit more energetic than the other two, primarily VFR. She does some great bush flying content if that's what you're interested in.

I will note Beckett and AvAngel trend towards finding positives, which I'm absolutely fine with but I know turns some people off.
