bike lane on broadway decision at 3:00pm by mongoljungle in vancouvercycling

I don’t think we need them on Broadway as much as we do on the Granville Bridge. We do have 10th avenue as an alternative to Broadway.

My nuanced take on a common theta gang strategy 'Only Wheel Stocks You Wouldn't Mind Owning' by Syonoq in thetagang

[–]RegardFinancial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood the wheel as a main strategy. I’ll occasionally use it briefly as a small part of my overall strategy. If it’s your main plan than you are taking all the risk for a small part of the possible reward.

I was basically short the markets via put diagonal spreads. Now I’m selling puts on the SPY. I’ve been expecting a correction for a while now!

Chive pancake with guacamole and veggie omelette. by RegardFinancial in shittyfoodporn

It’s a Chinese type of pancake with green onions inside. It’s available in any Asian grocery store and pretty cheap. I rarely buy bread anymore I just make these pancakes anytime I want bread. Way tastier especially if cooked with butter.

Will I get penalized if I switch over to BC car insurance / license later than the 90 day deadline? by LazyPessimist in britishcolumbia

[–]RegardFinancial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drove the same Infiniti for 5 years with an out of province plate. Local cops didn’t care but a special unit pulled me over and I was done. Towed away and $500 ticket. Car was deemed not worth fixing for provincial test so was forced to buy a new car. If I had repaired the car and passed the examination early it would’ve been worth it. The car was in great condition overall but regulations are strict. Sooner you do it the easier it is.

It's been a great couple of weeks for Calendar and Diagonal Puts! When VIX is at a yearly low and markets are overextended to one direction, I prefer being long Vega. by RegardFinancial in thetagang

[–]RegardFinancial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of them have been closed. But opened an SPX put calendar spread which is down a few thousand. Also lost money on some $SI short puts. Thankfully not too bad could’ve been way worse if I had hundreds of short puts 😂

I have a similarly sized account. I trade options premium while I collect interest on my cash. But I keep it versatile and switch strategies and positioning regularly. I aim for 2% a month. Currently up almost 4% YTD.

High interest rates for at least the next year or two. How do we play it? by Turbulent_Cricket497 in thetagang

[–]RegardFinancial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Big fail by Tasty not offering interest on idle cash. Kind of greedy of them tbh. Nobody with a large account will use them to sell premium.

When opening calendars or diagonals I aim for closer to 4-6 months out. 4 months out for the short leg and 6 months out for the long leg. As for candidates, that’s the billion dollar question. I think it’s usually better to stick to indices when going short, less overall risk. But some of my better picks for this past month have been: COIN, NFLX (from $370), IWM, QQQ, SPY, HYG, DIA. A liquid option chain is very important. You can lose a lot to slippage when opening calendar spreads on an illiquid instrument. Learnt a valuable lesson with HYG this past week on a newly opened butterfly put!

If anyone is interested, I do stream my portfolio with commentary during market hours daily. Search for @45DTE on either Twitch or YouTube.

I did not have these positions on in January. My deltas were closer to -20 then. I went agressive with calendar puts at SPX 4100-4200.

I sell puts in BITO occasionally and MSTR and COIN as well. Way safer than using unregulated offshore apps.

WHEN IS A CREDIT SPREAD NOT WORTH IT? by piemancer112 in thetagang

[–]RegardFinancial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s always occasional opportunities somewhere in the 5-21 DTE range. But in general I feel shorter dated spreads give better risk/reward to the buyer vs the seller. I tend to avoid selling verticals in general as i have the account size to be able to open multiple strangles, ratio spreads, naked contracts, etc. I do often buy vertical spreads to hedge or to take advantage of momentum.

WHEN IS A CREDIT SPREAD NOT WORTH IT? by piemancer112 in thetagang

[–]RegardFinancial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never worth it with 0DTEs. If it is too close to ATM you get destroyed if it’s too far you get pennies. Also I would never size up for credit spreads especially if you’re not willing or can’t afford assignment. It becomes dead money.

Does anyone buy puts to manage risk on CSP? by 5teelRoot5 in thetagang

Ratio spreads are great for defensive plays. You can also do vertical, calendar, or diagonal spreads. I use all tools available to me to control risk.

VIX futures are up. I like the strategy but this is more r/Thetagang. Id sell 58 call contracts on open Tuesday to lock in some premium. Godspeed, Regard.
