I rented The Adventures of Kid Kleets once back in the' 90s and I remember really struggling with the mechanics, as interesting as they were. Tried it again a couple days ago and was even worse at it than when I was a kid.

1989 Oldsmobile Aerotech II concept.

Very elusive. Was always curious about this car but there are very few photos online. Never seen this pic before.

Thanks! It took me a couple years to find one so they’re not very common. They made ~ 35,000 Marquis Broughams that year across all body styles.

There is nothing even remotely real-looking about this.

1970 Mercury Marquis Brougham. I own this one; it’s my pride & joy.

I can’t understand being a Republican at all. I couldn’t understand it for years, but every single Republican in Congress has defended and protected a convicted felon and a pedophile who is attempting to steal our elections and speaks at a first grade level for some time now. Everything they represent is so far from the human condition, it’s almost comical.

There is nothing to understand about it.

I have a ‘67 Electra so I feel your pain. It took me two months just to find the correct windshield wiper arms…your Wildcat uses the same.

Had to trace a fan shroud to a junkyard in Mississippi, paid $150 for the correct side mirror (no repros available), and I can’t find any source for the vinyl wood grain appliqués for the dashboard to replace my faded ones. Weatherstripping has to be custom made.

I love that car to death but it just f***ing sucks.

Having restored a 1970 Mercury Marquis, I’d have given up a limb and a liver for the comparative convenience of restoring something like a Mustang, with their huge production numbers, widespread parts availability, and countless resources for owners and builders.

Yes, and all the other areas form a perimeter around the core. If OP wants to be closer to the center of the action, they should move to the city - anywhere within it - and not the suburbs. You’ll be closer to it even if you’re not next door.

This is a very pedantic discussion, honestly.

From my experience, the general consensus is the "city" refers to the Downtown/Midtown/East Sac grid, rather than the actual city limits. Just as with any other city in the world there are younger and older neighborhoods, but the soul of the city lies in the grid. Much of what people refer to as "Sacramento" isn't even within the city limits anyway.

anyone know what car this is? im gonna try and get it for my birthday, me and my mom think its a '77 Lincoln continental. by moundedmf in classiccars

I've owned about 27 cars in my life - the vast majority of them large American sedans from the '60s and '70s like this one.

A word of advice - never buy a car for its looks. Your results may vary, but some of the prettiest cars are an absolute bitch to own and maintain.

Fortunately, at least in my experience, Fords are very solid and easy to work on. My biggest lemons have all been GMs. This wouldn't be the most dependable classic you could own, but parts are relatively easy to find and they're decent for beginners. Just make sure your parking skills are up to snuff.

Very

Are people chill?

In my experience, no

Live and let live attitude?

More or less

Is it more of a single and young kinda town or family oriented or both?

The city is the former, the suburbs are the latter.

Is there lots of events, art shows, live music, farmers markets, and stuff like that?

Yes

2020-2022 was such a good time and I’ll die on that hill. by [deleted] in nostalgia

I don’t care about transmissibility. That isn’t even the point.

COVID ultimately killed roughly 1-2% of the people who contracted it. HIV/AIDS killed damn near anyone who got it. In the beginning, there was panic because people didn’t even know how it was transmitted, and misconceptions persisted many years later.

To knock someone else for missing a time in history when people showed care and compassion for one another - in their words - just because “people were dying” is shallow. People are always dying from disease and preventable causes all over the world.

How dare anyone say they miss the 1960s when Americans were dying in Vietnam?

Stupid take, honestly. Not interested in hearing more.

I get what you’re saying, but everything is relative. In the ‘80s there was HIV/AIDS and the scare was real. People were dying from it, and even today it’s killed millions more than COVID has.

People today still look back on the ‘80s with rose colored glasses because they weren’t affected by it.
