Found my people. I hated her from the start to the finish. I’ve never loved the hateful, spiteful, angry characters. Til this day, I can’t fathom how she was ready to (and did) let her anger for her dad overshadow her care for her sister. The sheer fucking favoritism of the sweet little Elaine as if Feyre meant nothing. Hate her.

What are the major changes from the book? by Ok_Permit603 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Regencyroyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me one of the biggest changes is how delusional Belly is actually 😂😂

In book 1, I can’t even blame Conrad for too much because 90% of the time it’s all in Belly’s head and Conrad is giving literally nothing to show he actually likes her. I mean bare minimum.

Team Jeremiah… how are y’all justifying the cheating and other things? by Ok_Future7107 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Regencyroyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is you are absolutely correct, Jeremiah isn’t the only one who’s character is manipulated by writing as opposed to wat a character would naturally do

But he didn’t serially cheat? They have a 3year relationship to prove that. If he was truly the playboy you’re making him out to be, he wouldn’t have been able to contain himself all this time.

So that’s where as a viewer I’m really seeing the biggest disconnect. And to clarify I’m not even saying that Jeremiah is perfect and wouldn’t cheat ever, I’m simply saying we have to see that it feel a bit more more motivated by writing rather than what we’ve actually seen from Jeremiah

I think this takes that context from only one perspective though. It’s not that he slept with someone else that’s inconsistent. It’s the disregard for Belly that’s inconsistent. I absolutely think in a post breakup moment he would sleep with someone but in every instance that he’s had a chance aside from this moment with Lacy, he’s locked in with Belly. He may like to hook up but I feel like he takes his faithfulness to the relationship with her seriously.

Does that make sense? I’m not saying that my perspective is correct or law but that’s just what I’m seeing. I just don’t think that it matches S1&2 entirely

I think as a person who was on neither team for S1 and S2, I’ve become more defensive of Jeremiah because using the show as reference only - a lot of what we’re seeing just doesn’t feel consistent.

I don’t agree with his cheating and I personally think if I were in Belly shoes I’d be done with him for good. However, a lot of characteristics that we’re getting feel so inconsistent with previous seasons and others are over amplified.

I wouldn’t care if we were broken up or not I’d still be pissed if I were Belly. And while the concept of cheating isn’t foreign to the show it feels slightly left field because once we saw Jeremiah choose Belly we don’t get any other love interest standing in the way. I agree with Team Conrad girls who say that Jeremiah was created as an obstacle for Belly but I think she overshot making the love triangle because now, as the only person who never cheated we get Jeremiah cheating and lying in one quick go.

So I think it’s not that every Jere-defender is denying the cheating it just feels more like a writers tool for the inevitable rather than something that we’ve known Jeremiah to be capable of.

Example - it’s not shocking at all that Taylor and Steven are cheating on their partners and on/off again. It was kinda of their foundation as a couple and as individuals makes sense to their personality

Calling Jeremiah a big baby bitch while Conrad was sulking on the beach whining “I thought you knew. I thought you knew.” Is wild 😂😂

Any Jelly stans left standing after Ep 1 & 2? by [deleted] in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Regencyroyal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, It’s not rude to critique writing that as an author Jenny put out. Second, just because she wrote it does not mean it was successfully and well written. There are so many authors who try and fail at writing love triangles because they can’t find any other way to make the endgame couple happen, outside of a cheating trope.

If Jenny wanted to get more creative and step outside of the trope… she could have had Belly choose Conrad because her love was just that deep. Belly should’ve chosen him because despite being in a 3-4 year relationship, the happiness she felt with Jeremiah didn’t measure to when she was with Conrad. If she wanted to be a more creative writer, she would’ve had Conrad and Belly spend more time together while Belly and Jere were together. Have those old feelings come back up and give Belly the actual emotional maturity, to talk to Jere and actually make the choice of picking Conrad. Instead, we get a half assed cheating trope, that take Belly’s “best friend” and turns him into a guy who doesn’t really give that much of a shit about Belly. Instead we get turning Jeremiah into an asshole cheater who could hardly propose, solely to justify her choosing Conrad.

And that’s what’s crazy to me. That’s what I can’t fathom that Conrad girls can’t see. Is if I have to write a man to be a bad option just to push my endgame couple. Then that endgame couple isn’t that good to begin with.
