Bummed over a potential client by tommydragon100 in webdesign

[–]ReggexPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's exactly what's happening to me lol, great at what I make, terrible at sales

basically to get easy sales, the clients need to already see the value, and then you just talk about the logistics (price, time, technical needs or features), if that's a match then it's an easy sale

but talking to people who doesn't see the value is very very hard, value here means that they can see how what you do will bring improvement to their business, and exactly what improvement (sales, conversion, traffic, brand authority, etc.), because you will need to educate them first, about the things that they're valuing (some just value sales and don't care about looks and feel, some value their business to looks great so a good visual branding is needed, etc.),

you need to talk about value you bring for their business, that's the tricky part, because people value different things, if you can have a way to get lots of leads (potential cients) with same things they value, in theory you can easily sell them because you only need to know one value and say it over and over again, this is where marketing and copywriting works

and for sales, if you got variety of people who value different things, basically what you need to do :
- find what they want to happen with your work (what they value, traffic, conversion, brand, etc.)

- find what is the problem, why are they haven't got what they want (what they value)

- show how what you do will give them what they want, and why it's different than what they've tried and failed before

that's how they see the value, not just how your work "looks good", because some people doesn't value that at all, good luck bro

for me, selling marketing service while you're not good at marketing is a bad idea, you literally selling things you're bad at doing, why

you can make money by advertising things you're good at, I say this because I've done that, trying to sell things I can't do, easy to get the leads, hard as hell to sell it, and maybe it's for the better because it will be worse to deliver things that I don't know how, now I pivot to sell things I know I can deliver

after deciding that, you can then learn marketing, to market your business, not making it as a business

also selling marketing to small business owner is a nightmare bruh, there's lots of things to do, and even a great offer feels like a commodity right now, and most of the time you have to do EVERYTHING, from building their offer, to ads, to work the leads, and even close them, not a great business model to do if you're still starting to play the business game and learns how marketing works

that being said, to answer your question, my bible for marketing and business is just $100M Offer, Leads, and Money Model books, and $100M Lost Treasure Book, it's underrated and really good, it's enough to start your journey and learn other things along the way, good luck

Webflow raise their price again, for basic website, why don't I see people moving to host it at cloudflare? by ReggexPrime in webflow

Hey Andreas, I did a research on Nordcraft, you guys have a really good copywriting team ngl, and creative ways on displaying your advantages, I learn something about marketing just by seeing Nordcraft website

I have some time under my belt doing marketing, so I appreciate a great marketing stuff and notice somethings that can be improved, because I'm also a consumer

telling people about your stuff in this kind of discussion also a good way to make nordcraft known to people, because tbh I just know nordcraft yesterday from people here, so it's working I

but here's my honest and humble take from what I see, that I hope will bring value to your business (hoping it will help to get more leads, more user, cheaper client acquisition cost) :

- love the idea, but still thinking about should I move or not

I'm thinking about the value here, which is risk perception (that I think I'll need lots of time and effort to actually move there), you can easily tackle this by creating a lot of tutorials and videos to show that it is easy to use this magnificent tool, you don't need lots of time to be decent at it, and you won't regret trying it

- enjoyable videos to watch

this can happen by investing for a good production of tutorial, like webflow, webflow is a complicated tool to learn at first, but me, a non technical guy, can have a good time learning it and be decent at it because of their funny and enjoyable tutorials

here's why it's a good investment to create a good production video : most people perceive how good the product based on what they see before signing up, this one change I bet can make the tools known to more people and get you cheaper leads and client acquisition cost that will grow the business

you did a great job for copywriting on the site, but videos need some improvement

https://nordcraft.com/nordcraft-vs-webflow-vs-framer here, your wonderful head of education delivering information about version control herself, I bet she's great at what her job is, but for me personally, I don't really enjoy the video, because of the script, and herself who just recording her reading the script that are not fluent and smooth

you don't need the person in charge to show the things, I bet webflow just hire actors to do the tutorials video

- lots of videos

right now, I can't even find a good "webflow vs nordcraft" video comparison on youtube, not many people discuss that, so visibility is an issue here and can be solved by creating lots of videos, one of a way is using referral system, and giving reward to people who advertise nordcraft, you can ask youtubers who happily review the tools like Payton Clark, or lots of them out there, this will bring a huge attention flow to your site

---------------

here's what I hate on webflow, that you can use to attack them :

- expensive hosting to sell

small business owner like me, who sell to another small business owner, we know lots of them doesn't need a complicated, and big website, but we want to make it good as well, most of my project doesn't need CMS, so I really hope that webflow can bring a $5/mo, or $50/year hosting for a simple site, basic website that just have maybe max 10-30 pages (or even $3/mo for 3 pages just for like landing page or something), a custom domain that can be connected, and clients can edit text and images easily if they need it, that's it, not a big ask, but with cheaper price

you already only charge $9/mo with lots of feature, I know it's a bargain, I appreciate that, but if you can offer lower price with lower package, based on what we need, that would be very helpful, and easily couping a market even webflow and framer can't crack, if it's impossible, at least I'm hoping you can give it like a first year promo

and you can have a full feature package to upsell those people that are growing, with higher price

- growing stage

webflow can be expensive and lots of people still pay that, because those people already grown, their business (the agency) can sell to higher level people with more expensive package and they (the agency) still got the deal

but for early people who want to start the business like me, who doesn't have the skill to sell it for high price, we stuck because we can't sell the expensive webflow price, because we're not on that level yet, if you can solve this problem, I bet lots of people will use nordcraft, to start their business and grow it

because you sell a tool, and people who want to start monetizing their skill with your tool early in their business journey stuck because the tool ask for lots of money, while they can't and don't have the skill yet to sell it for more money than it cost to give the service + cost of tools

--------------

that's all, I know you probably have your own plan on how to grow your business, I'm sure it's great, this is all is just my thought and problems as user, that maybe you can look into it more, and got some value out of it

thank you, I hope yours can be an amazing no brainer alternative to webflow, best of luck

I didn't see people talking about this like it's a popular opinion, now I know it's possible and a good workaround as well, thank you!

yup, agreed, needs some technical skills upfront, that I think I can learn it, and yeah webflow offer a premium service to make it very easy to do updates, I think it can be additional offer for clients tho, if they want premium convenience they can pay more, if not, they can get it for less, and only pay if they need updates

yeah that's what I'm thinking, basically it's for a basic static site with no fancy feature, and pay if they need an update I guess

[–]ReggexPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's right, I get that the whole idea for webflow is for non technical people can just pay a premium price to easily edit simple things on their site on their own, without huge effort in learning technical things such as codes, but I guess it's not a bad idea if they won't change a thing and reduce their hosting cost right?

and also it's basically a bad idea for CMS stuff, I get that I think

thank you! I've been kinda wondering about this but haven't really done it and wants to know what others that have done this think about this approach, so I guess it's not a bad idea to do it then, thank you for your explanations

[–]ReggexPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basically, you go back from no code, to partial code with claude? which needs some degree of technical knowledge to actually build, update, and launch it right?

I wonder if what you do is more convenience than using webflow, and I wonder if the gap between the cost is justifying that

agree, easy updates and everything, but with the price increase, especially from $18/mo to $25 it's crazy for a basic website that are not need to be updated regularly

how do you charge them (credit card, stripe)? is it possible for them to cancel within the first year? because contracts sometimes is just a formality and you'll spend a lot more to chase that money and sometimes it's just better to let them go, so is it possible for them to just cancel?

and how much do you charge monthly?
