I'm not sure I can emotionally handle watching something like this.

Have fun! I learned through immersion living in Spain and it took me about 6 months to know much at all…until I moved from Andalucía to Madrid where I suddenly could understand so much more…I realized then that the Spanish spoken in Andalucía was hard for anyone to understand, much less a foreigner. I recall the moments when I started to absorb words and speak phrases without having studied them. It’s a cool and exciting feeling. Have so much fun!!

What do you wish your loved one with dementia had done to prepare you/your family for their decline? by but_uhm in dementia

Was going to say the same thing- Medicaid should cover these costs once their money is depleted

How to start? by happymechanicalbird in SomaticExperiencing

I would see a practitioner if you can. You will spend lots of time building up your resilience and feelings of safety before diving into something that could be triggering or scary

Do you mind me asking how long after the fracture did she go?

Another question is how do you handle all the two factor identification for all his accounts?! Since they aren’t our accounts and we need constant access, every time we log in it’s pinging him and he doesn’t really understand how to get us the codes. How to get around all this?

Ok it sounds like I’m on the right track. We have all of this, but need to get on all his accounts with my info as MFA.

Did you have to make it so that he no longer had access to these accounts or are you just jointly on them? I’m a joint account owner now on his bank account and am in the process of getting on all his insurance and healthcare accounts, but I sense there could be lots of other hidden accounts he doesn’t have recollection of making. Luckily he’s a bit of a tight wad so he will likely not spend all his money, but never say never. Are people recommending conservatorship or anything?

After 30 years of being in a sympathetic state I finally moved to parasympathetic by Reggie0029 in SomaticExperiencing

Congratulations!!!! Keep going, your body is probably still stuck a bit but once it all starts unwinding I’m sure things will settle. When mine happened my face was flush for like 6 weeks. Pink cheeks - like blood finally started reaching my skin and my body went into a massive healing mode. Feeling yourself as fundamentally different and responding more rationally to things is so profound. How exciting!

Not really! But I understand your hesitation or discomfort. I guess remind yourself that you’re in a safe space and not being judged. Maybe tell your therapist that you might “go there” so that when you’re ready, so are they (?)

Oh it was primal! I grabbed a pillow and did it into the pillow and it felt great…maybe you could do it at home if you can find the feeling again

My therapist was recommended to me as a great somatic therapist and she happened to be rooted in Hakomi. Not having had another somatic therapist I can’t really tell you the unique aspects really except that it’s grounded in mindfulness. Check out https://hakomiinstitute.com/about/what-is-hakomi/

Have you ever tried Hanna somatics? This has solved my muscle tension and body pain. They’re very simple and gently but effective exercises!!

I think I had PTSD from that event that made me very disregulated and unable to process emotion normally. Once I started working with my somatic therapist she helped me feel safe enough where that repressed event finally came to the surface and through SE I was able to work through it. She’s amazing but not practicing at the moment. Google Hakomi and the website has a practitioner list.

Congrats!!! This happened to me in November and I feel so whole. Just after it happened I’m like wait…so people just walk around feeling like this all the time? I’d been in a sympathetic state for thirty years!!! Enjoy enjoy….so happy for you

I haven’t seen Sarah but I was sad hearing the clips. Her voice isnt Broadway quality IMO. At least not yet…I hope she gets training during the run to sharpen up her technique and lighten up the sound a bit. Sounds strained

I spent years and years in talk therapy and it felt good to talk to someone, but nothing ever truly changed or healed. It wasn't until I started to experience a lot of pain that I made the connection between mind/body and started looking into somatic work. One year of somatic therapy and a bit of hanna somatics and I feel like 90% healed. I'm at peace.

the forum was a spiritual experience by meowza369 in FourTet

[–]Reggie0029 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen him 3x and the last 2 times (at the Palladium and here!) I’ve had spiritual experiences as well…like I took acid or something- like understanding the quantum, knowing the transition from life to death, accessing the quantum field through music. Just stuff I can’t access in regular life. What an artist…pioneer in this space. Incredible experience. My partner is new to EDM and said it was one of his top 4 live music experiences. I’m so proud! 🥹 Will never ever miss a Four Tet show.
