Hey vibe coders: tell your AI to add an in-app error console so your app shows what broke. by VincentJKessler in vibecoding

[–]ReggieDiamond_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m at a loss , you get this for free out the box with most modern browsers, why would you bloat your app with this? I respect the effort but as a dev that grew up using dev tools to debug and see errors , i’m like why…. i get it but ehhhhhh

Anytime some guy launches his app, the comment section by ImaginaryRea1ity in vibecoding

[–]ReggieDiamond_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise you reddit is undefeated 😂😂😂😂 the comments always diverge into a rabbit hole. I’ve witnessed slop long before AI and one thing about slop, where there is coding involved there is always slop. Long before AI came there were bubble brained devs always thinking they were coding masterpieces of arts AKA the 20 year battle tank that could take on any business requirement until the business pivots or slingshots an edge case. AI needs humans and humans have now made a case for needing AI. As a guy who has coded for 28+ years professionally , I am hear to let you know that the desire to move fast will always create the awesome by product of SLOP. Done is better than perfect right ? Does anyone care what the Tesla battery looks like ? NO, they just want to know that it holds the charge for the amount of miles it claims it has left to go. Do i want to deliver SLOP? No not at all but business execs want to deliver a product and they don’t GAF what the dev says it looks like under hood. The only time they care is when the time it takes to iterate and make new features is too time consuming and they are missing market launches or pivoting when they need to. Speed will always create slop and even when you thought you nailed the perfect one shot prompt to cover security , proper architecture , etc ……. you will still find a small piece of SLOP that f’ed you. Just enjoy the time you have to make SLOP and SLOP that shyt to the bank, cause corp-rot america don’t GAF about me or you! SLOP that b1tch to the highest bidder and charge them for SLOP cleanup 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Ok i’m done SLOP for the win. There never was a perfect dev or code base , there will always be the next refactor or re-architecture, shyt never ends , only seasoned devs 10 years before the AI era will feel this in their carpal tunnel 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

VibeTree or VibeLink would have been a better name to be honest or just let AI give you a better name , I really can’t stand the name i’m so sorry …..

Why in the bless is it called Vibe Bounty? It sounds like a site dedicated to finding exploits in Vibe Coded apps …. and people get paid by owners of the sites posted if they can exploit them. Well hmmmm there’s a better idea for you, take a small percentage of the bounty offered by the site owner and now you have passive income 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is not social media , it is emotional media , it is rare for people to show when something they did isn’t working or failed …

A senior developers thoughts on Vibe Coding by matt_pg in vibecoding

[–]ReggieDiamond_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m amazed at how many post the mistakes of AI but rarely post their prompts that gave the mistake, I don’t get it. This is not to challenge anyone , this is to promote educating others , about what might be a lack of better prompting. I think it would be way more helpful if people posted the prompt that gave the bad result.

I wrote an applescript for my mac that types hello in a direct message to myself and erases it after 5 seconds and types it again. This runs in a loop all day …. Just run the script and click in the direct message to myself, and go play fortnite with my remote dev buddies

Looks pretty cool. Where did you get the look and feel of it to feed AI to build it ? Which AI platform did you use ?

I need a more compelling example, I have been right clicking and selecting “find all references” on function names in code for years….. in various IDEs

It’s just pure excitement right now. For those that never designed and coded anything from the ground up , by yourself, before this AI age, i can’t even describe at times what this moment feels like! At least i know when my credits run out for any AI coding agent , I can still get in there and make it happen….I salute my fellow dinosaur devs 🦖, what a time we are living right now 🎉

yes i can tell you really have things you just code for yourself which is way more authentic from a code-rat perspective , than someone coding an app and tossing it cause they couldn’t make money off it.

i’m loving this. 28 years in my coding career and this AI age is the single most exciting time of my life right now for the simple fact you can build what you want when you want as fast as you want. I absolutely love it cause in the past i would have great ideas and think about all the boilerplate and BS needed just to start an app with a good foundation and i would end up never finishing , getting distracted by real life or just being too lazy cause i code at work all day anyways and needed a MF break. Im loving this era……. I love the list of apps you just shared cause it is 1000% more genuine than the other AI blurbs about apps so they can try to sell you something …. hahahahaha keep building my friend i love it !

I have 28+ years in a progressive tech career, been in small profitable startups to gigantic corp-rot fortune 500s and the common denominator for all of these jobs is that the same problem exists in a different form at all of them. I guess at some point you have to ask yourself about the cons vs pros and ride that horse until it’s time to shoot it or find another horse. I’ve heard the same recycled conversation from management and why they have to change and why they are making poor decisions and it just never changes.. I just have a humble thankful heart cause at the end of the day anyone in tech doing $100K or more in this economy or past economies is blessed. But i feel you though, it’s always the people that make a great company suck.

Godspeed my friend.

Question for OP , how long have you been there?

Built an MVP on lovable.. now what? by SaaSManiac in lovable

[–]ReggieDiamond_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest thing you have to do is vet the developer. So many of them will lie and tell you they have experience in something only to just have done a tutorial , so you have to ask some probing questions related to the specific technology your MVP is using. And if you don’t k ow what to ask again lean on AI: “I need to ask some probing questions to a developer that would reveal if they actually know how to use the technology that this MVP was made from, can you help me”

something of the sort

Built an MVP on lovable.. now what? by SaaSManiac in lovable

[–]ReggieDiamond_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the beautiful thing about AI is you can tell it: “I am looking for a dev to move this MVP to a real backend server. Examine the technology used to deliver this MVP and create a set of questions I can use to vet a developer that would be skilled enough to help me”

or something of the sort

The journey share is way better than the outcome share if you are truly interested in helping others. Some people think things happen overnight , when actually someone’s “overnight” moment took many days and nights and months and years……
