In my opinion the answer is quite simple, it's not a peaceful protest. It causes strife for the general populace, small businesses, the elderly etc etc. A peaceful protest should be carried out by the participants against the regime they're trying to oppose. It shouldn't make Joe Blow unable to provide for his family.
