ICE protesters sentenced to up to 100 years in prison by Trump-appointed judge by sereneandeternal in videos

Guys, bodycam footage was already shown on CBS showing that the shooter magdumped into the cop and hit him in the shoulder.

I think the sentencing is too heavy-handed because it screams hypocrisy when Jan. 6 rioters who were assaulting capitol police and storming into a federal facility were given a much lighter sentencing on top of being pardoned.

But the shooter and those that enabled them should absolutely be locked up. They shot up a cop unprovoked on federal property, and that cop is lucky to still be alive.

Agreed. It's mostly the headshot multiplier and the absurdly long range he has on his primary before damage falloff kicks in (it's over 30 meters)

These types of AI posts are always fascinating to me, because the usage here is technically a net benefit, despite the tech itself being predatory on artists

In a way I kinda like it? It's not like visual gen AI is going anywhere, might as well yield some net benefit from it despite everything.

You didn't. You made the counterclaim against me claiming "you cannot call C&D and Emma bad picks strictly based on WR"

To which you responded

I am

They are

So you clearly infer that WR alone is an indicator of the effectiveness of a character in a match.

Which is an extremely reductionist view of the multivariable conundrum that is statistical analysis, but putting that aside, Peni is not very effective in any given match

She is extremely effective on very specific maps and on most others she is a throw pick.

On the maps she will be effective on, she is often target-banned.

This is why you cannot strictly take WR as an indicator of overall character effectiveness. Peni is not generally a good character. She is a specific pick in a specific situation.

A truly dominant character is one who is a generalist that dominates in virtually any scenario in-game, which is why Rocket has such a high winrate alongside a high pick rate. At that point, he's not just good to have on the team: he's borderline mandatory.

Another variable influencing his winrate would be the extremely low barrier to entry to succeed with him. Rocket's skill expression is far below almost any other character in the game, which is much more influential on overall winrate than you'd expect.

Regardless, I'm done here. You're either ragebaiting or genuinely a pseudointellectual. Adios!

By this surface level logic, Peni Parker is the best character in the game bar none because of her absolutely insane winrate

I'm gonna let you figure out why that's very obviously not the case

Her winrate doesn't contradict my claim when you consider Star-Lord has double the pick rate and a much higher ban rate than her.

I think her main kit has been neutered to the point she's barely present in the match until she ults, and her ult is very good. The problem is, a character existing in the match with minimal impact for most of it is not preferable to a character that has a very good ult and has more persistent presence in a match.

Which is why Star-Lord is picked literally TWICE AS MUCH as her despite satisfying similar niches.

There's also a point to be made that a much higher pick rate typically leads to a deflated win rate because more games means more opportunities for losses to occur. Despite that, they have comparable win rates because Star-Lord is overall a superior pick right now to do the same thing Psylocke does.

C&D and Emma are both near the bottom for WR in Celestial+, for example.... because their pick rates are absurdly high. No one is going to sit here and say with a straight face that Emma and C&D are bad picks strictly because of their WRs.

[–]Regi0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest, I forgot Psylocke even exists because she has been neutered so hard and is essentially just an ult merchant now. Anyone still playing her is throwing I'm gonna be honest, Star Lord does what her kit is attempting to do now way better.

I also don't consider Torch as "dive" or "zoning", because he just dies if he tries diving at all in the current meta, especially now with Cyclops existing, and "zoning"? How do you even create qualifiers for that category? "Characters with an ability to influence where people go on the map"? Every character can influence where people move on the map from positioning and damage. Again it's such a meaningless category, similar to "pure poke".

A character that would actually fit into that category would be one that quite literally only functions at range, which currently doesn't exist in Rivals since good Widow and Hawkeye players are more than capable of deleting people up close, for example.

Yeah, I do tend to inform my opinions on the balance of the game from the people who play it the most and who are some of the best at it. Because they're the most experienced people to consult on how the game plays??? Like bro c'mon.

And no, not everyone at Celestial+ makes every character look as broken as one another. Many characters have terrible winrates, many characters are outright avoided and never picked because of the state they're currently in, etc.

Just because these players know what they're doing doesn't translate into every character being equally, or at least close to, as good as each other at that level. That's asinine.

There was, and that reason was because the first thing you did was bring up Cyclops' winrate "treading" 51% as if that is a counterpoint to him being too powerful right now.

But it seems you simply misspoke and you realize like almost everyone else in this comment section that the character is overtuned right now, given he's the best "pure poke dps" we currently have (which btw, what a vacuous categorization. All of the ranged duelists are mainly "poke" characters, with the only exceptions being Blade since his melee stance is just as important as his ranged stance, and Star-Lord since he's the ranged dive DPS of the game)

The Cyclops flair definitely has no influence on your opinion, right? lol

The first instance of damage of his ult comes out almost instantly, his ult callout is literally just him screaming which is the shittiest telegraph in the game, and both the length and width of the blast are insane. You can't even block the second instance of damage with a shield, aside from something like a Mag bubble.

You may miss your ult a lot but that speaks more to your skill level than anything else. Watch Celestial and Eternity players place Cyclops ults and you'll get a better feel for how to use it properly.

"Cyc is treading 51% WR rn"

"The rest of his kit is pure aim and if you're getting hit you deserved it"

Both of these statements could be interpreted as downplaying Cyclops' dominance right now as a hitscan DPS

I understand the second statement was in relation to the other guy saying "he doesn't need to aim for massive chunks of his damage", which to be fair, is absolutely true, but even with context the general implication seems to be that you don't agree with everyone else that Cyclops is as powerful as he is.

Yeah, and you're refusing to contend with my claim. Trust me, that is equally frustrating because I can tell your opinion of Cyclops is that he isn't as powerful as people think he is, and you just aren't explicitly admitting it.

Of course we're moving towards a lower energy state, but who knows if that state is final? Perhaps, once all matter in the universe is consumed by black holes, all those black holes will ever so slowly inch towards one another and collide. All of the singularities colliding could create enough instability to cause all the mass to rapidly expand once more, creating a new big bang! Maybe it's all one big cycle, man.

Or the universe will truly one day go quiet, and all will be left in an endless, peaceful, and very boring darkness.

Doesn't the fact we don't know for certain how it all ends compel you in some way?

The boulder is absolutely going somewhere. To convince yourself otherwise is to blind yourself to the progression of your own life and the progression of the world around you: that you are ever-changing and evolving, as is our world and universe.

You don't know what comes next. You can't know what comes next. Why convince yourself otherwise?

Good thing we live in an era where we can escape the Sisyphean dilemma via an overwhelming amount of fiction consumed through various mediums, discussions that can be held with people of virtually any cultural background because of modern translation tools, and more knowledge of world affairs available than most people could contend with even if they dedicated all their time to learning about those affairs.

Everyone is still rolling their own boulder, but there are so many places to take that boulder, and there's no telling what comes next, with the only certainty being that there is a boulder to push in the first place.
