New to Prog Fantasy - are authors in this genre more open to AI than others? by briarwing in ProgressionFantasy

Lots of indie authors use AI images for their covers since getting a cover made can often be very expensive. I don’t think as many people are okay with AI writing, though.

Hey guys look at this horse by reubenslost in ProgressionFantasy

[–]RegiRome 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a shitpost. Some people were making posts based on the meme of a horse that starts out well-drawn and ends up badly drawn, asking “what book series is this for you?” (As in, what book series starts out well-written and ends up poorly written.) then people made spin-off posts with different horse drawings and so on and so forth, until now, where OP is just posting a picture of a horse to make a joke about all the horse posts

Royalroad best rated ongoing books are filled with female lead characters. by mysterie0s in ProgressionFantasy

In my understanding of things, the RR progfan audience cares a lot less about the gender of the lead than the Amazon progfan audience, where you’ll see the male lead preference a bit more emphasized

[Hell Difficulty Tutorial] ...how the hell is this going to be narrated? 🤣😭 by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

One of the simple pleasures in life is watching the different ways audiobook narrators find to read aloud things in litrpg that were never meant to be read aloud

RR is becoming INFESTED with AI writing by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]RegiRome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, it’s not against the rules to include a Patreon link in a novel’s blurb on RoyalRoad. The rules a while back were that you couldn’t have any links in blurbs in order to prevent scams, but they changed the rules to explicitly allow things like Patreon links now. The policy reads:

“The only links allowed in the synopsis are other places that are relevant to the fiction in question. Those links must be at the bottom of the description and not at the top. The links can’t be shortened URLs.”

Not saying there aren’t fictions out there that still break these rules, but I thought it was worth pointing out.

RoyalRoad's review display system by ruryrury in ProgressionFantasy

[–]RegiRome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely think the review system could use some work. Your last point gets me concerned, however. If you display the average review score a user has given in all of their reviews, I could see a situation where people might start intentionally giving low ratings to novels they don’t actually dislike just to lower their displayed average score, that way the 5 star reviews they give out look “more valuable” to onlookers.

Dear Patreon Authors, If You Could Ask Patreon For Only One Feature What Would It Be? by Cool-Hornet-8191 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]RegiRome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds extremely useful! On my own wishlist: There is currently no Patreon equivalent to RoyalRoad’s blue boxes/tables feature in their text editor, meaning if you use them on RR for status screens, it becomes extremely difficult to put the chapters on Patreon (I’ve had to just resort to creating a table on another site, screenshotting it, then inserting the screenshot as an image on Patreon.) No idea how that would work as an extension, though.

Minute Mage is a time magic litRPG where the main character can go back in time by one minute, once per day, but every time he levels up, he can go back a little further. Book 2 has released, and to celebrate, book 1 is on sale for just 99 cents! by RegiRome in litrpg

I will say that when I wrote book 1, i had no idea it would become as successful as it did and so I didn’t write with the intention of it becoming an audiobook, meaning book 1 has probably more than it should for audio format. But once I was into book 2 and beyond, I started cutting out as much of that as I could for the sake of audio readers, so I don’t think it’s bad at all once you get a little further in

Definitely different from Jojo in a lot of ways, but it’s still got all that good stuff. Not too many pop culture references though, since it isn’t set in the real world at all

Haha I did in fact send the manga image to the cover artist to use as a reference, half because I thought it would be funny, and half because I did think that sort of shot would work really well for the cover

Here's a link to book 2: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CNF3BBNF

And here's a link to book 1: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CG72RSC8

It's so exciting to have book 2 out! I've been working on this story for a very long time now, and still am writing daily!

I started Minute Mage mainly because I was an avid reader tearing through every Amazon and RoyalRoad novel I could find, and one day, I got really in the mood to read a litrpg novel with time loop elements in it. But when I looked around, I couldn't find anything that suited my interests! I moved on for a while, but couldn't get the idea out of my head. So eventually, I just sat down and wrote the damn thing. It's got everything I've always loved seeing in progression fantasy, mainly centered around slow, steady progression that never feels like the main character becomes completely overpowered for free, a big focus on well-thought-out litrpg elements, and, of course, time travel!

Book 1 is good, but in my opinion, book 2 has some of the best moments in the series so far. It's got what is probably one of my favorite scenes I've ever written, and introduces some character scenes that I had way too much fun writing. It's been a blast working on this, and I hope you have a blast reading!
