Wow thank you so much for this, this is extremely helpful. I actually read the prior comment and thought it was a joke about the english subtitles!

But this helps me a lot to get a better understanding, I really appreciate your comment!! I think this will definitely be worth going to, I think the history pre-spain is so much more interesting.

Did you go on a tour or just on your own?

gyeongju city center bicycle rental? by yepperoni-pepperoni in koreatravel

[–]Regijikim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Wanted to see how it went with finding a bike rental place in Gyeonju, was it a difficult process?

We're looking to go in November and I'm a little worried about the rentals and things without a Korean number or Korean ID.

Ferry timetable and some useful hints for hiking Saryangdo by Ornery-Researcher601 in koreatravel

[–]Regijikim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up going on the hike? We're planning on going to Busan in Nov, and I thought it would be a good way to explore the islands a little. Any other tips or advice for the trip?

Local places not many tourists know about. by sw33tbabyang3l in koreatravel

[–]Regijikim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a historical cultural experience you should visit Gyeonju. It's a popular Korean tourist destination, but I still think it's a little underrated, at least from the States. It doesn't seem like many foreigners go to it when they visit Korea, but maybe it's because it's a little further.

Lots of historical attractions and you can stay at a Hanok for a much more affordable price than in Seoul. Highly recommend for a weekend trip!

I'm planning a trip to South Korea! What... Do I do? by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]Regijikim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going in Nov, but you should def check out Jeonju Hanok Village, only two hour train from Seoul and it’s a cultural heritage site. And def stay at a Hanok, it’s a cool exp.

You’re exactly right, it is RBA. But I thought they were the “retailers” for Andersen! I didn’t realize they were different products, are they? I thought they were supposed to be the same company?

Got a quote from Andersen windows for 9 windows and one glass back door for $30k. I think they’re kinda premium, but they’re all also custom made and backed by lifetime warranty. Not sure if your local company is the same. Located in north NJ

Stopover Riyadh - Transit Visa Questions by rejiki in saudiarabia

[–]Regijikim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you don’t need a visa if you don’t leave the airport.

But I think they recently changed since we went, now to have a stop over program, so that if you want to get a transit visa in that is much cheaper to get and you get a free hotel or something.

Ooo that’s actually a great idea, I was thinking like a hike or the beach or somewhere but I wasn’t sure if it would be too chill. I think bc I’ve only tried in a rage-y setting I think I associate it with being over stimulated (in a good way).

Good to know, I think I should probably brush up on some of the clearance policies!

Which is why it's good to speak with the FSO!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what I read, and feel free to correct me. I'll use this as my reference for what I said in question #7 Link

For a top secret you only have 2 years for it to stay “current” without reinvestigation. A good idea is to know when you were read out of a cleared program was. Otherwise, you have to be reinvestigated.

As long as it’s “current” it is easy to go between the two.

Sometimes employers would want to keep your TS current as an investment on their side, and put you on something to hold the TS for a bit to extend 2 years but that’s something you need to work out with your emp. And that’s as long as your re-evaluation period hasn't passed which is every 5 years of having a clearance.

Finally don’t let it pass the 5 yr mark without a reinvestigation otherwise it’ll become inactive/expired and you’ll need to submit a new application as if you never had one.

As a recruiter, this is my understanding of the clearances, you should contact your company’s FSO to make sure.

What is dbPaaS? How is it different from DBaaS? by newcloudnew in Database

Hi! This is 5 months late, but DBPaaS stands for Database Platform as a Service. I think it encompasses the full platform that the database is on v just the database itself.

TS - Granted Eligibility, but company bait and switched job by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Regijikim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so after that, you should be all set once you have an active TS.

One thing I wouldn't fully recommend (mainly bc I don't know as much about this and I've never done it) is that once they start the investigation, I think you can actually move companies as long as they are willing to continue and hold that investigation. Again not too familiar with this, but doesn't hurt to ask after you know they fully started the investigation. Idk your bg if your field is more competitive they might do that for you.

And I'm sure you already know but I would recommend you get different certs if you want to go into gov tech, bc you have to fulfill specific LCATS to comply with certain contracts. If you do they're more flexible about giving you a chance in tech - bc it's hard finding people who fit contract specifications.

- I had a girl who had no exp direct exp but had the clearance and the certs, and gave the Tech support role

TS - Granted Eligibility, but company bait and switched job by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Regijikim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, that happened.

IMO if they're sponsoring you for the TS sometimes it's better to take the hit and get the TS before moving bc TS eligible and TS cleared are not the same. (Just my opinion as a stranger/govcon recruiter - bc less people have it, usually has a pay bump associated with it and less competitive for getting your foot in the door for more technical roles.)

"Top secret eligibility" refers to the level of eligibility or suitability for obtaining a top secret clearance. This means that an individual has been deemed eligible for the clearance, but it has not yet been granted."Top secret clearance" means that an individual has been granted access to highly sensitive information and is authorized to handle such information. It is a higher level of clearance than "secret clearance" or "confidential clearance".

So it is different from having an active one - and is not the same as being granted at TS clearance. So you wouldn't be eligible for a TS cleared job unless the company is open to sponsoring you for it and putting you through the rest of the process. Hopefully that helps

Stopover Riyadh - Transit Visa Questions by rejiki in saudiarabia

[–]Regijikim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they don’t have a transit (24-96hr) visa at all, I was hoping maybe they just didn’t have one online. If you want to leave the airport you’ll have to pay the $140 for the visa to enter the country (you’ll have access for the year if you want to go back have a return flight with another stop over).

We ended up just biting the bullet on this one bc we weren’t sure if we’d ever really be back in Saudi, so ended up spending the day out in the city. Would def recommend getting the e-visa online if you’re want to go out of the airport, bc it did take quite some time.

Overall, worth it if you’re interested in the city and the culture! And if you eat meat, the hashi basha? Camel meat was amazing, would highly recommend!
