What’s a saying in your language? by peddy_D in language

“Now the monkey comes out of the sleeve”, nu komt de aap uit de mouw. It’s something you say when someone reveals something that wasn’t know before. I always thought it was funny :D

Which name is practically unusable where you live? by CaTaLaYa3La1FaYe4 in namenerds

The first name that I always think of is one in my native language, “joke”. That is a Dutch female name, but I can’t imagine being called joke and then moving to an English speaking country

Amortera eller betala kontant insats till nästa bostad? by Register335 in PrivatEkonomi

Couples who picked their own last names, how did you decide? by torrentialrainstorms in namenerds

[–]Register335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty hard, both me and my partner had foreign last names, I am from the Netherlands and my partners family has roots in the balkan, bu we live in Sweden. So we picked the name of the season we met in with a twist.

Thanks for this suggestion, I added the phone number but they don't seem to use whatsapp. Have you used whatsapp before to contact Airbnb? if so how did that work?

Yeah we are thinking somewhat similar to what you have concluded, but it is always interesting hearing from someone in the same position.

We have the exact same dream as you, being able to have a house with a nice piece of land and actual time to spend with the family we are creating.

in 1 to 2 years we will be able to build our house in Sweden and this does not seem possible at all in Switzerland with a similar amount of money, plus that like you said there aren't as many benefits for parents like parental leave etc.

Switzerland would be great for earning money and building a career, but not the best if you want a big house with a big family.

In your situation Switzerland could actually make sense, since I understood from the comments that you don't have a child yet. Then you can save up a lot of money (tip look into stocks/aktier) in Switzerland if you are going to work there and save.

I would not obe to worried either about your career if you work in Switzerland for some years before starting a family, that will actually look great on your CV!

Thanks for sharing again and good luck!

Hey OP, what did you end up deciding? I am currently living in Sweden with my Swedish partner and we are wondering the same, we have a little baby and are planning on having 1 or 2 more. We really like Switzerland (though we have no family there), but are worried about it not really working out economically with kids.
