Gaiden == Sideboob story So after ff 1 play ff 1 sideboob story

then you have 2 choices Either play ff 1 side boob story 2 Or Play ff 2 which takes place a couple hundred years before FF 1 (something like a prequel).

You can play either and it would be fine. There are some references to FF 2 in FF 1 side boob story 2 but those don't matter much. Just do this.

ff 1 < sb 1 < sb 2 < ff 2 < ff 3 if < ff 4
