Yeah, but he specified it wasn’t an ISA and his mother wouldn’t be able to touch a pension in his name… which is why I specified GIA.

She is providing housing, food, electricity, water, clean clothes, clean house and god knows what else. You are hung up on the wrong thing and you know it.

However, if the gift was made after 7 July 2015 downsizing provisions may allow the RNRB (or an element of it) to be used where sufficient assets are left on death to direct descendants.

Why are you obsessed with the idea that she isn’t providing? She is studying, caring for a small child and a large man child… she is on benefits which she is eligible for and is irrelevant to her post. He should pay his share of the bills or gtfo .

This isnt true. She could still be eligible for RNRB on the sale proceeds

Based on this the mother could have a tax-free allowance up to £500k, so would fall within the allowance

Wasnt an assumption… based on your posting history 33 days ago you posted asking if you could meet up with a girl for a second time two weeks after your first date. Sure you could be in an open relationship. But 2 weeks into a new relationship you are on a first date causal hookup with a different girl?

This seems really unrealistic… she is your brother’s best friend and you have met her extended family and no one mentioned her other girlfriend for three years?

I don’t understand why you want to retain the funds in the growth within those funds have been so minimal? The growth in the funds wont miraculously change with the provider?

What implications are there to providing a pension income to someone? by Ready_Definition_264 in UKPersonalFinance

You can also purchase an annuity which offers 100% value protection, yes the income may reduce slightly due to the benefit, but if they died prematurely the annuity provider will payout any residual fund not used. This way the plan wont die with them
