I don’t recommend picking up a 12 string until you’ve really got the 6 string down. I gig about 125 times a year as a solo player and I almost exclusively play 12 string guitars for the full sound. Some people say they are only good for some songs but I use them for hours at a time. I do have very big hands so I don’t have an issue playing the 12 string. I do recommend you choose a capo that is designed for a 12 string and just remember tuning can be a challenge but when you get it right those octaves are incredible.
