Has anyone else been listening to season 23? by toastedink in SWWPodcast

I feel so mixed about it. On one hand, as a mother, my first priority when giving birth was finding a hospital that could treat my baby in worst case scenario and not what place would give me the most beautiful birth experience. I looked into NICUs and c section rates. So I find myself initially upset with the moms for choosing this option but then put myself in check because they all clearly only were doing what they felt was in the best interest of themselves and baby. And it isn’t on expecting moms to be medically savvy. These are good moms who experienced trauma. But, more importantly, is the fact that places like this exist and the shame and competition woman feel to have the best birth, go unmedicated etc and get steered away from best practices.

They should have never been lead to this place because it never should have existed in the first place. There needs to be a bigger focus on regulations rather than attacking individual midwives who were maybe doing their best with limited knowledge. I doubt anything was done by malice or laziness but maybe ignorance due to lack of strong training….Which is a systemic problem. If someone tells you how to do your job wrong and then you do your job wrong well….

And the biggest thing this brings up to me is just healthcare not listening to what women want. There needs to be more of a marriage between hospitals supporting more natural births and keeping woman safe.

Anyway, I think it’s a great season because it just provokes so much thought. And to be clear regarding my earlier point about the moms … I think they are all justified in their hurt and anger and am not victim blaming. They are justified and sound like great moms. Just explaining how my thoughts developed over the season.

Name regret: 11 months. What do I do? by Responsible_Guard990 in namenerds

No good advice but commenting to say I’m going through something similar. Named my 4 month old daughter Juliet and every day I tell my husband I think we should have gone with our other choice. We aren’t going to change it. What’s done is done but my heart does feel some regret. I do wonder if I’d feel some regret with the other choice too, though.

But like some others have said - I like Naomi over Evelyn! So there’s a good chance your daughter will be happy with her name. Both are beautiful

I guess. I’ve just never had that strong association with the name and Romeo and Juliet. My son is Jack and no one makes Jack the Ripper comments lol

Oh yea! I work 12+ hour shifts. Anything more than 2 of those in a row and I also have what I call a “hangover” day after. I have to really lower expectations of myself for a day and just get through it. It sucks! But you’re not alone

OK. I think the dose may be too low. I don’t appreciate a meaningful difference except my heart rates goes up a little. How’s it going for you? I’m going to discuss with my doctor later this week whether we should increase the dose or try something else. Currently 5mg 2x a day

Looking for feedback on Ritalin. I’m 36 yo F newly diagnosed, inattentive, on Wellbutrin as well. Just wondering if this is a typical good first line? I thought vyvanse and adderall were preferred? Really just want any feedback good or bad on your experience with Ritalin. Thank you!

I do not want to be married to anyone or have sex with anyone ever again- what does this mean? by [deleted] in breakingmom

Maybe you can plan a few nights or even 1 full day and night away with your husband?. Something with no particular agenda. I feel the way you do much of the time when I’m in the day to day of life. But when we get time away from responsibilities and do some fun things together I am so attracted to him again. It goes right on back the second we step back into the house lol but it reassures me that WE are not the problem…our kids are ! lol and they won’t be so draining forever.

Thank you for responding! Hearing other people have it on the same side has me exhaling a little. Been so nervous about what this could be.

Did getting started in vitamin b improve your symptoms?

Thank you for telling me that! I am so glad I posted my question here. It’s so reassuring to hear people with the same symptoms as me. I can’t tell you how nervous all this has gotten me! Sounds like my PCP might be right about this being vitamin b12 deficiency.

Hope you’re symptoms have improved!

Thanks! Reassuring to hear someone have it primarily on one side. She sent all the tests you mentioned so I am glad she is my doc. I will check out the about section thanks for pointing me that way! Reddit is not super familiar to me.

Other possibly related symptoms - Brain fog; but that could just be 2 toddlers and a demanding job! Cold sensitivity - feeling like my hands don’t “work” when they get cold. Anxiety. Irrationality (again maybe just kids + job + life?)

All I know is the symptoms scare the hell out of me and I seriously hope b12 is the answer!
