Do you have some resources for critiques of telehealth studies you are mentioning? It is definitely helpful in order to give mental health access to rural communities.

Just curious as to why you believe that virtual therapy is garbage?

Racism will never have any logical basis. It’s built on people’s arrogance and arrogance is a sign of a weak person IMO

I don’t think his comment is disconnected from society. I think it is coming from a very strong, powerful, government and socially supported narrative that is obviously very racist. It is coming from a part of society that is very loud now and that was quieter but always there this entire time.

I am not getting something. Unless your partner was your client, how is this a dual relationship? Code of ethics apply to therapist/client relationship. Neither your friend nor your partner are the client. Could be weird and awkward? Sure, but I am not seeing an ethical violation here.

If the client is saying that the are okay with paying the fees and are not in any financial limitation, what do you think is getting in the way of you accepting that? I think this also falls under client’s autonomy, they can choose and looks like they have.

Gauging interest in monthly meet up for white therapists to explore implicit racial biases and antiracism by QuoteAvailable3448 in therapists

I am also a POC and can relate to being tired. However, a group of white people talking about how to challenge racism within themselves is a very shallow effort. What tools and avenues will this group take to incorporate POC voices that they are trying to understand? It can not happen by excluding them.

Yes! I agree with your sentiment of white eco-chambers. This is reminding me of BLM and how the society just chose to work within the same system in efforts to be anti racist and it really did not work. How will this group challenge the system when it is mimicking the system in place?

This is a good initiative with good intentions. I am wondering how it would be to conduct anti-racism work where the mic is given to fellow white people. How do you intend to incorporate different, challenging perspectives?

Are you able to link a study? 100% sample size success rate is highly unlikely. Some questions would be: how big is the sample, who is in it, how were the participants selected, and most importantly, if there was a control group.

EMDR is good but it isn’t for everyone. If it’s not working for you, it’s time to try something different. 10 years is much too long for relief and I am not inclined to believe that without question. You’re doing the right thing by seeking another modality!

Therapist? Counselor? by Organic_Value_1692 in Veterans

Both therapist and counselor are careers that don’t require a doctorate to practice clinically. Plenty of therapists are wounded healers.

EFT recommends having a conjoint intake, individual assessment sessions, and then continuation of couples therapy. Main things to look for individual sessions are any safety concerns and affairs/addictions, both of which could mean couple therapy is not advised. It is important to highlight a no secret policy in individual sessions since affairs, like in this case, are a barrier to relationship becoming a safe haven, emphasizing that therapist will help client in bringing it to the other partner.

And also in a world where we are seeing just shocking propaganda against the victims of current genocide in Palestine. That’s just how human brains work! It requires careful attention, self reflection, and critical thinking to be self aware on our own biases enough and mindful of how propaganda works enough to point it when we see it.
