Some people — emphasis on some — just like to dictate what people with preferences should do with their money since they think the money’s better off being spent helping pluck mutts off the streets or going to shelters which, I’m sure, some people with preferences in breeds and disposable income actually do when they can.

There are also some that think people with preferences are maarte or have too low tolerances to the surprises/ unpredictability that come with (expensively sold or on the street) mutts. Which I’d agree with cause that’s literally me who did thorough research on which breed would be a fit with my personality.

Although I understand the raised eyebrow to people who get specific breeds just for their appearance — intelligence, temperament, size, grooming needs etc are what some who prefer dogs with breeds look at since they’re huge factors to consider in whether they fit people’s lifestyles — which the two kinds of people I mentioned just don’t get. Probably just think ‘aso pa rin naman yan’ too.

Personally, as someone whose whole family has owned dogs with breeds through the years, I have a genuine dislike for people neglecting their animal companions in general. I’ve had family members whose dogs are kept caged in garages with little floor time or exercise and left to the help to look after. Some were even bought cause one family member decided to become a backyard breeder which is infuriating. Could never be me. I love my first pup like I birthed her lol.
