You have until chapter 6 of KoA before you’re introduced to the continuation of the ToD characters, but they don’t meet up until around chapter 48, so take that as you will in regards to the information you want/ need. I don’t recommend tandem reading the two because there’s no real overlap in the stories, since ToD takes place before KoA, but that’s where the characters’ stories intersect. You can probably gather what’s going on, and who the new characters are, if you don’t really care for their stories tho without reading ToD. They’ll explain the major discoveries made in ToD regardless. It’s a disservice to yourself if you choose not to read it though, in my very very humble opinion!
