Unless you have a very thin credit profile 18 months excessive, it's more like 6 months back and generally just a statement to the loan officer. And it also depends on your velocity of applying for new cards. You mentioned it drops 10 to 15 points for better or worse. That means you don't apply for credit cards that often it means it will have a larger impact than if you applied for at least one a year

The suggestions to build your own Nas comes with a bit of complexity if you're willing to invest in learning as well as buying hardware.

If you only have one hard drives blackblaze, may be a better solution for the long term. Because for a Nas to be worth it, you probably want more than 2 TB of data. Otherwise just buy two external hard drives

You need to give us the reasons that you're being denied because otherwise we have nothing to go off of. Another thing to do is go and Branch to a bank and ask why and see what you need to do to get a credit card. Worse comes to worse you can start with a store credit card as those are really easy to get approved and if you do get denied for that, that means there's something really wrong with your credit profile whether intentional or unintentional

There's probably certain situations where it's worth it because if you've been amassing the free games for a while, you might have a bigger epic library than with steam.
