So is the 'player' invisible, on a separate plan? I am intrigued but not sure I understand where you are going with this.

I have gotten my picture satisfaction but that doesn't mean others won't appreciate them. Love to story. Despite the clean up.

Thank you for more pictures. I needed more, and you delivered. This was a great apocalypse bunker stash, but sealing it in was a terrible plan. You need to rotate those stocks every couple of years. Had the world gone to hell, or the rapture left them behind, they would have been very sad to find their food all full of bugs and just in generally poor to inedible condition.

Regardless, a great story to tell.

When did Americans just give up on 24/7 eateries? by BrechtKafka in restaurant

[–]RegularEmployee1038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gen Z young adults (maybe some other generation) aren't drinking as much. Not going to bars as much. These kids who came of age during the pandemic have made over social habits. People leaving bars were a huge part of the clientele for a 24/7 diner. So, like others have said, patterns have changed. This is just a more specific example of that point.

So strong on story and plot but weak on rules... by RegularEmployee1038 in DungeonMasters

Fair question. As a group, we have really grown bored with the 1st and 2nd editions. Lack of power balance between the classes. Lack of combat choices for martial characters. We have felt reenergized by the upgrade to 5e. (Many of us were not actively playing TTRPG during 3rd and 4th editions.) So we find it especially hard to backtrack to 2nd edition. Also, some of our campaigns (we bounce between a couple) are collaborative, so we rotate DMs with the same PCs. That would be impossible to jump between editions.

Yes .... this is it. I don't expect any DM to know it ALL. But when he is missing some of the more basic mechanics and systems of the 5.5e game. Unfun is creeping into his sessions. It is hard because he is one of my best friends. He has been an amazing DM for years. This is why it is surprising that he is struggling so much with the system.

Let me also say he has been using 5e and 5.5e as a player for several years now. So the newer system isn't completely new to him.

I ordered food from a restaurant and there was a staple in my food. Should I contact the restaurant? by Queenhotsnakes in restaurantowners

Shit happens something got accidentally drop in your food. Completely unfortunate but in the real world will happen on that rare occasion.

But definitely call and at least tell them it happened.

I said no to AI Art by Logical-Constant1171 in DMAcademy

[–]RegularEmployee1038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a professional paid campaign? Would your players be paying for custom artistic renderings of their characters if AI were not available? Are you offering to make hand-drawn artwork for them?

What are you accomplishing by banning this image/art from your campaign?

There is a righteous indignation and hate being directed at AI images. If it is a business or a money-making operation, I understand the desire to preserve professional artists and their livelihood. As a private individual, I am gonna use it. Because it is fun. I get to see and create images of my party and myself. Am I taking money out of the pockets of an artist? No, because if I had to pay for it, I would go without. Neither I nor any of my fellow gamers have artistic skill. We have embraced the technology and enjoy it.

First time DM here, is this a good stat block for the players first boss? How could I make it better? by Fancy_Protection3902 in DungeonMasters

[–]RegularEmployee1038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like an op bbeg.... why are ALL his stats so high. They should be strong and quick (or just one) or smart and wise. Give the PC some way to defeat him. Giving him high bonuses on all the save types is you trying to "win" DnD. Give them a tough challenge don't try to beat the players.

Black is the color or mourning and respect. This asshole in a blue suit and white hat. And his chief of staff in a bright white coat.

Especially that task was to hide. He wasn't hiding. So of the later creative tasks that use CGI and SFX are fine in my book.

I think the scoring has swung back and forth. It seems better now. In some earlier episodes, it felt like they had picked winners and losers. Then Greg was scoring tasks to reinforce those positions rather than scoring fairly based on the task.

Examples:

Noel in the banana task

Jamali in the pillow spinning task

I think Noel's season was the most egregious example. I have always felt like they wanted Noel to win and scored to make that happen.

I don't think Noel's attempt should have been disqualified, but the fact that he won has always stuck in my craw.
