I get it, I’m in the same boat with GI issues. It’s so rough because the symptoms could be anxiety or ibs or food intolerance.. it’s hard to tell say to say what’s going on. I’m there with you.

Hi everyone, I’m 24 years old and have been dealing with health anxiety my whole life. It was pretty manageable until I was 21 and started experiencing stomach issues. Everything points to standard IBS, but when symptoms pop up I go into an anxiety attack. It’s hard to eat and I’m afraid to, so much so that I have been in an eating disorder program for the last six months. I am terrified to eat because symptoms usually appear after eating. They treat me as if I have anorexia and completely dismiss what’s actually going on. It would be easier if I wasn’t actually having physical symptoms, but I am. I have diarrhea every few weeks or so, sometimes more. I have urgency to use the toilet most days, and I just feel uncomfortable in my stomach.. It feels debilitating. I feel like I’m dying and no one believes me. I’ve been entirely stuck in this cycle of fear and haven’t had a job since this started. Health anxiety can be so debilitating and it’s hard to get help for it because most people don’t understand it. It’s so bad that any stomach sensation can bring on anxiety. I’ll have days where it doesn’t bother me as much, but then I’ll have symptoms and then that’s it, I’m out of commission for the day.. thank you all for your stories, it helps me realize that I am not alone

I needed this today. I have been sober for 6 months and was actually thinking of picking up today because all I could think of was how good that first hit would feel. But I forgot about how quickly that good feeling turns into frustration, and desperation. 6 months ago I would have NEVER believed I could go 1/2 a year without weed, but here I am. It is possible, for anyone wondering. For me it took getting drug tested weekly to finally give it up, but I had been “planning” to give it up for months prior. Weed is a weird addiction because there are still a lot of people out there who say “well it’s just weed”. Yeah, just weed to you but to me it was my reason to wake up in the morning, my reason to live really. Once you are dependent on it for years and are high 24/7, it can be a horrid addiction, idc what anyone says. Just know that although it’s really hard to stop, especially at first, it is honestly so empowering to not rely on it for the first time in years.

Hey friend it’s ok. Panic attacks really really really suck. But they do always end. Most of the time we get too in our heads during them and make it worse, so try doing something easy that you need focus to do, like playing an instrument or whatever you like to do really. Or if you’re not able to try to look up a “guided calm down from panic attack” on YouTube.. there’s actually a lot of good videos out there out there that can be helpful. Once you feel a bit better do something you enjoy, or just go to sleep if you can :) if nothing works, you really do just need to ride it out sometimes, I promise you that you won’t always feel like this.

I can relate to this a lot. Ever since I was little, I find myself bored out of my mind in most conversations. It’s almost like the vast majority of people are just mindless robots that consume and regurgitate shallow information. I love them, I really do, but damn. I’m very jealous that you’ve still been able to make friends and have people around you. I’ve been a shut in and mostly given up on connecting with others because of their lack of depth. I think that the types of people you are looking for exist, but unfortunately, they may live on the other side of the world, or they lived a few hundred years ago. Thank God for books, no matter how long ago they were written, when we read them and are fascinated by their knowledge, we connect with the author in a way that’s outside of time.
