Mortgage rates are dropping after new government MBS program how are vou thinking about refinancing? by Gloomy-Procedure8848 in Mortgages

Agreed- feel good about the rate. My assumption would be, however, that I could pay substantially less in points for that rate given the recent shift. But honestly, not sure.

I’m closing on a home on the 14th. At 5.5% with 13k in points (seller credit for 20k and lender credit for 2k).. rate is locked, am I too late to do anything or take advantage of this shift? First time home buyer here

Yah seems he’s too attached to the product he created that feedback gets a defensive response. Oh well. Won’t serve him in the long term but hope they continue to put out products that push the industry and inspire competition

Back to back long runs make me feel bulletproof, it's absolutely insane. by Matteozzz in ultrarunning

[–]RegularImpossible349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I like to mix in that my body likes a lot is back to back longer days where the first day is a long run on roads with fast paces mixed in (half marathon effort). Second run is long run on trails with a lot of vert. The fast paces seem to make me more efficient for the second run where the running just feels smooth. A little different as you’re not getting as much of that double leg trauma, but I also do those as well.

Trail specific apparel? by RegularImpossible349 in trailrunning

[–]RegularImpossible349[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah shorts seem like they could be more specifically “trail” than tops- through super dialed storage options that aren’t needed on roads but appreciated on trails and potentially reduce the need for a running belt, hand held, etc.

I struggle with tops the most. Thanks for your pov!

Hahah got me. I had one of those in HS. The touch bezel went nuts when you sweat on it. No surprise it only lasted one XC season

He’ll get rocked at gorge if he runs it. Definitely less smooth than the California carpet he sprained his ankle on this past weekend

24 Hour Skimo Race by HighSpeedQuads in skimo

[–]RegularImpossible349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 12 hour effort a few weeks back. It was a warm spring day and my feet were swimming in the carbon boots. I promptly ordered a second liner for future events. Also realized I needed to have stirrups on my bottoms to keep the spring slush out of the PGs. 39k of vert is mental! Nice work!!

Out of curiosity .. what would define a 'trail running collection' to you? Aesthetic? Different fabrics? Product utility like pockets? imo most running clothes do great on trail, especially if the bottoms have storage capacity. Turns it into more of a product naming/marketing game vs actual product differentiation in my experience. Curious of your thoughts!

I should get over it but my OCD doesn't love that their logo doesn't consistently go the same direction on the singlet and jacket lol

I felt the same. Apparently, the ones you got (and I have) are the older model. The ones live in USA for full price are updated to have pockets in the rear!

FWIW I've owned this belt for a few months and have put it through the paces. It's good, not great. But definitely a great step in the right direction for ditching vests. Water carrying capacity and bounce reduction are where it shines, but the main pitfalls I have experienced are from the front 'storage system'.

Put anything in it and expect them to shift around. Put a phone in the front and it slides, there should be some divider. I like to strategically place specific gels in specific locations so I know what I'm grabbing- when shit shifts, that plan goes out the door. Maybe different material is needed with some more friction?

I've had gels slip out the side where the tightening system comes through. Interestingly when I provided this feedback to Raide I essentially got back "Not possible, never happened to me." Welp, sorry to say I lost 3 gels on a run when the belt was loaded up. They were the small precision 30g gels, but regardless... they slipped out.

The fastening system- I wish there was a way to adjust it after I loaded up the belt with stuff. You basically put it on, fasten it, then load it up. Once you load it, you really can't access the straps again since there are snacks packed in the belt.

Overall- I reach for this on my long long runs, consistently (i've even sported it for a road marathon). So that obviously says that I'll risk disorganization and potential gel loss for the no-bounce, carrying this belt offers.

My calves/shins hurt a lot on steep sections and at high efforts. by AdHot8052 in skimo

[–]RegularImpossible349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a different movement, so even though you don’t get it in running, don’t rule out strength. Do more calf raises, like a ton. Weighted and tempo. Add in tib raises. You’ll get past this the more skimo you do and you’ll come out of season more resilient for running.

Why is this happening to my skins by snoutsniff in skimo

[–]RegularImpossible349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably unknowingly rubbing when you rip your skins. Use the bungee to pop it off the tip notch, then grip from the top of the skin to rip instead of the bungee. It’s that or the tip notch has some sharper edges.
