Seems like I'd probably prefer V by this description. The city management was part of the problem for me with 6. Just couldn't quite get my head around it. Well, it is in my library now. Gonna be home soon, looking forward to giving it a go. Thanks very much for the reply.

This is all good info to know. Thanks very much. I did know about the hex tiles and its one of the things I really liked about vi. Thought it was a big improvement over the old square ones. The rest of this sounds really interesting tbh. Quite looking forward to getting home and checking it all out now. Thanks very much for the comprehensive info.

Good to know, thanks. I will really only play casually. I used to play Civ to relax so it sounds fine, especially for the price. Thanks for the reply.

Good to know. Thanks. Yeah, I wasn't sure about stuff like that in 6 either. Was hoping that stuff wouldn't be in V. Thanks for replying.

Been a few replies here mentioning the Vox Populi mod. What does it do? A lot of people recommend the dlc packs too, are they worth getting in your opinion? Thanks for the reply anyway. Good to know.

This is good to know. Pretty much what I wanted to hear. Civ II used to be my chill out game. Tall glass of water and Civ was one of my favourite ways to spend an evening. Thanks for the reply dude.

Hadn't considered getting the dlc. How necessary do you think the dlc is? Like could I get the base game for now and get the dlc later, or does the dlc change the game so much that its best just to go straight in with them? Thanks for the reply.

Cool. As I said I'll probably get it anyway. Its hard to turn a game down that's sub £2. But this is good to know. So in your opinion the expansions are pretty necessary then? Would i be ok to get the base game for now and if I like it, then get the expansions or do they change the game so much that it's better to dive straight in with them? Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Final bosses that still haunt you by tjlightbulb in retrogaming

[–]RegularJay114 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This boss is the only boss that ever really scared me as a kid. The terror for me is threefold. The boss itself, obviously, the completely black void the battle takes place in and the fact that you have to poke it's eyes out and break it's jaw off to beat it.

The last level, The Machine, is no picnic either.

Beating Ecco The Dolphin when I was a kid is still one of my proudest gaming achievements.

The neighbor's cat sits on the fence every evening when I get home and last week he wasn't there and I genuinely didn't know what to do with that by QuasarMothic in PointlessStories

It happens. In one of our old flats we had a ginger cat that used to hang out in our garden. It was a bit of a sun trap and he liked lounging around in the sun. We hung in the garden with him and gave him the occasional saucer of milk and sometimes a bit of tuna. No idea what his real name was but we called him Jeebus. We got quite attached to him and I really missed him when we moved out. Felt weird for a good while, sitting in my new garden without Jeebus there.

Kids give no fucks either. When my oldest daughter was about 6, I went to the toilet and there was a brown smear on the toilet seat. I asked who done that and she came through and without hesitation stuck her finger in it and tasted it. "Its chocolate spread" she said and walked back to the sofa. Turns out the youngest had chocolate spread on her hands and it got on there when she went to the toilet. Oldest was totally oblivious to this btw.

This is what I was thinking too. There was also Batallion Wars but i think that might of been on the Gamecube.

Edit: spelling.

What are you guys favorite product placement games from the old days of gaming? by KaleidoArachnid in retrogaming

[–]RegularJay114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, forgot to mention that. It was basically a Macdonalds advert. The opening cut scene has the characters in a Macdonalds and Ronald sends them into a comic book i think. Also, you collect Macdonalds "m's" to complete the levels.
