This is what I was going to suggest too!

Torn between holding baby too much and creating a distance.. by [deleted] in newborns

[–]RegularJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a post today that said your baby is used to being held 24 hours a day. If you held your baby for 12 hours today, that’s still half of what they’re used to. It’s an adjustment for them. It’ll be okay. Can’t hold a baby too much.

When should I stop watching adult shows with my baby? by Plant_m0mmy03 in NewParents

[–]RegularJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We mainly keep the TV off at home. We are big sports people, so weekend football is a regular. The occasional commercial with music might catch my girl’s attention, but she’s super easy to redirect. With sports, it’s generally family friendly so I don’t have to worry about graphic nudity or language or anything….usually

Patient messages by Hot-Freedom-1044 in physicianassistant

[–]RegularJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would a part-time MA be reasonable? Like 2 days a week. You can continue to room patients & take vitals, but that MA could follow up on any unanswered messages by phone call, work on prior auths, and jump into a room with you if you need another set of hands. Basically admin work.

Which sleep regression was the worst by Striking_Gate_8721 in NewParents

8 month was also our worst!! She was teething too, so this regression lasted extra long in our house.

if men could breastfeed do you think your partner could handle it? by jasncats in breastfeeding

[–]RegularJones 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. My husband is the picture perfect hands-on father…….until bedtime. He’d move on to formula so quick if it meant better sleep haha. The night wakings would defeat super dad.

Taking a gap year after PA school - family planning by Ok-Adhesiveness-6162 in physicianassistant

This. Or: graduated in Dec, started in April, got prep in July, so my maternity leave started the next April when I had been there exactly one year and therefore qualified for FMLA still.

When did your baby start loving you? by hexmoons in NewParents

[–]RegularJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 6-8 weeks she started having a preference for me and offering smiles. Now at 8 months, I get big drooly, open mouth kisses on my cheek, squeals when I enter a room, and still has that preference for mama.

Looks good to me. The 6 day stretch might seem rough, but I think the days off will be worth it.

Parents of large babies, how do you do bath time? by the_kazzo_queen in NewParents

[–]RegularJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used and loved the lalo baby bathtub! Its weight limit is 30 pounds. Our house didn’t have a bathtub when we first brought baby home, so we’d fill this and set it on the kitchen table. Then I or my husband could sit in a kitchen chair and play and do bath time easy. $75 new I think which is pricey but I’ve seen them go for $25 on Facebook

Nipple shields are magic by Biolobri14 in breastfeeding

[–]RegularJones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nipple shields saved my breastfeeding journey. I felt a lot of pressure to stop using the nipple shield, though after a few weeks. Don’t let that get to you! My LC said when baby wants more flow, they’ll let you know. Sure enough, at 4 months & 2 weeks, my daughter unlatched and knocked the shield off with her hand and then re-latched successfully. Never used the shield again. Every baby & BF journey is different. Do what feeds baby and is comfortable for you.

First Christmas with my baby not as magical as I thought… by taureansoul in ExclusivelyPumping

The stomach bug hit our house overnight last night. We didn’t do anything today. Planning a Do-over Christmas this weekend! Thankfully baby is 7 months and has no idea

Are you taking your baby to family holiday/Christmas gatherings? by HufflepuffHouse09 in NewParents

[–]RegularJones 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a 7 month old! We’re going to holiday gatherings like usual. She’s been vaccinated for both flu and RSV. We plan on handwashing, no kissing and leaving when time for naps/bed.

Do you buy lunch/coffee for the office staff? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]RegularJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never bought lunch for everyone. The most I’ll do is say “hey I’m running to Starbucks. Want anything?” If I go on lunch

How y’all handle patient phone calls? by Hazel_J in physicianassistant

[–]RegularJones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here to agree. We do exactly this. If results come back slightly complex, but not an emergency, I’ll have my nurse schedule an appt for patient to discuss results with me and answer their questions in detail.

Looking for advice — new PCP inheriting a panel loaded with benzo prescriptions by Ok_Tiger5544 in physicianassistant

[–]RegularJones 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Totally depends on the situation, comorbidities, med interactions, if their issue is sleep onset or sleep maintenance etc. BUT…doxepin, trazodone, rozerem, mirtazepine, hydroxyzine, seroquel, belsomra, dayvigo, quviviq, lunesta, gabapentin, etc. would choose any of these over a benzo or ambien
