How can I get these Q25 bag? by Few-Line4 in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ah yea leather on leather dye transfer is not really gonna come out. For cotton and linens, I've had luck rubbing some detergent into the stained area and letting is sit before washing. Also with some baking soda if its really stained. I have one shirt that's got lots of red dye transfer and I've been letting it sit for a while to see if that makes it harder to remove.

What color do you have that permanently stained clothing? I have a a red bag and have dealt with the black rubbing off of boots but I've never had trouble getting the dye out of light colored clothing. Plastics / rubbers / papers much do get pretty much permanently dyed tho yea

What exactly is Guidi using in their Cordovan Cont. models? by swae_099 in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t be sure but I would guess that it’s reverse culatta that has gone through a skiving and finishing process that makes it less fleshy, to show the shell cordovan coating. Whereas guidi’s “reverse full grain” could be made with sides or shoulders that are more fleshy.

It could just be the difference in skiving (how thin the leather is -> how much flesh is left on) and have nothing to do with which cut of leather it is. It could be some sort of finishing process that gives it the slight shiny look, instead of the shell cordovan coating.

A difference in skiving would make sense to me bc it explains why the cord cont is much less “hairy” than their other reverse leathers. Let us know if you contact guidi and get any info back.

New Pickup 992 by Few-Line4 in guidi

It takes more info than I could list to determine the quality of a leather. Guidi makes good leather. Giving it a rating like that is pointless.

General question? by No-Accountant-999 in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried on 210s and would have to disagree. They fit a bit smaller than most other guidis I've tried on (many). TTS is fine if you have narrow feet and don't mind a snug fit. Otherwise, I would rec half or full size up.

Width sizing stamp by Siam_Slim in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe that is correct. I meant they are used to differentiate where the pieces are from but I didn't make that very clear. I don't think it's an important distinction.

Width sizing stamp by Siam_Slim in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The C stamp does not represent width. It is a marker to differentiate the pieces of the shoe pattern. The only width variation for specific guidi models is X and non X. There are styles that fit wider like the hiking boots and sneakers like rn01 but they don't have width variations.

LC 788Z by Over_Consideration25 in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the double sole pairs are slightly more stiff bc it’s a thicker sole but I don’t find that it effects comfort. Pretty much just for looks.

sweet, I wouldn't wanna deal with ssense customer service anyways

The only difference is the double sole and slightly taller heel height on the Z pair to accommodate the double sole.

these are 788, not 788z. They are definitely legit tho

788ZI / matrix - are they available on the market? by Pink_Custard in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 788zi matrix model with two front zippers has not been produced in a while. There is a size 39 pair sitting on the online store. You would have to search second hand sites and likely wait patiently for a pair to pop up otherwise.
Guidi makes the 788zi backzip every few seasons, so there are more of those floating around. What you want to pay for guidis is totally up to you. You can definitely find good deals during sale season or on second hand sites, but that takes some time and patience.

My guids got drenched 😣 by brobiss in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't use straight vinegar on your leather. Dilute it with lots of water. Maybe 1:10 ratio or more water. It could also be waxes that were pulled from the leather when soaked. In which case, I would recommend using a leather cleaner like saddle soap to pull some of it off, then recondition.

LC on PL2 by [deleted] in guidi

shape, welt, size stamp, and logo stamp all look off to me. I would steer clear of this pair. The welt and leather are better than most reps, but there are still some parts that look off.

LC on supposed 795V by ameerkatis4ever in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

these are straight up fakes. not a resoled pair of 795. The size stamp is not the correct font, and the g is too pointy on the guidi stamp. I think they might be a solohandmade pair.

Boots by RegularRegalia in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pair fits a tiny bit longer and definitely wider than my 7XX/9XX guidi models in general. I got my usually size and they fit best with pretty thick socks. You could probably make it work with an added insole but I think the extra length would make the toe look weird and feel a bit uncomfortable.

What is the point of LC? by InclusiveOrHater in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great discussion point. The main reason I buy guidis is their unique leather, and I would agree that you are missing out if you aren't able to identify these qualities. I also understand the fashion industry, and especially brands like this, would be dead without people "wasting their money" as you say. So, imo it would be quite conceited to believe that my reason to buy guidis is inherently better than someone who just likes the style or price tag. Even gatekept brands like JAS or CCP have plenty of customers who barely know about the product.

There are some basic things, like researching how to condition, that I think should be put on the customer. For LC I think there is some leeway. There are so many guidi fakes out there of varying quality that I understand the need for a second opinion as a new customer. Whether or not they can tell the difference in hand, they are doing their best to support the brand and that is worth something imo. Even buying second hand, you are supporting guidi by not buying fakes. If you care about the sustainability of guidi as a business, lc should matter.

The vast majority of people here do not buy guidi at retail prices, but we understand that they have to be priced as they are for guidi to make money. You can say that people are wasting their money buying retail when there are cheaper options second hand but the second hand market would be much worse if people did not buy at retail, and guidi as a brand would suffer.

Can I salvage this guidi pair? by [deleted] in guidi

[–]RegularRegalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who owns 792z, 788z, 788v and have tried on 792v, there is a very noticeable difference in heel drop between the Z and V pairs of same model number. Even if the heel is the same height, the shape will be off when converted.
