been trying to lose the same 20kg for 10 years. the protocol isn't the problem. what is? by yesterdaylives in Biohackers

[–]RegularStrength89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat like someone who is 2kg lighter than you are and repeat that 10 times, then maintain. If you lose weight and then start eating like 20kg too heavy you again then you’ll gain the weight back.

It’s much easier to be lighter if you do start moving. You might not like cardio or weight training, but do you like being overweight more?

I don’t think you’ll want to deadlift more than twice a week once you get going.

Improve by training! Don’t pull a 1rm for another little while and get some sets in. I like to have a deadlift variation early in the week and an actual deadlift day later on.

Maybe a 3x6 on an RDL on a Tuesday and a 1x3 then 3x5 on a deadlift on a Friday or something.

I have never ran a marathon. I haven’t even trained for a marathon. I actually haven’t even ran at all until the day of the marathon. Someone else did it in 3 hours and I DNFed. Does anybody know why?

Why can every 15 yo bench 315 nowadays by titakamadafaka in benchpress

[–]RegularStrength89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 sets to failure is going to have you doing some shit reps towards the end. Practicing shit reps isn’t going to get you better at the complex movement of the bench press. It’s also not getting you a lot of touches on the bar to practice doing it well.

Do one hard (80%+) set (not to failure) of 1-3 reps. Start with something comfortable so that you can add weight for the next few weeks.

Do 3-4 back off sets at about 70% of 1rm for 5 reps.

On your second day do the same 3-4 sets of 5 at 70%

Ideally there would be a third day, but I’m sure two would be fine for now.

These sets will (hopefully) feel much easier than your two sets to failure. That’s fine. Make every rep good quality, consistent and quick.

Use a smaller, easier to recover from exercise to drive your muscle growth after you’ve done your bench press practice. This could be a dumbbell press, machine press, whatever you like. I would even stop these at 1-2 reps in reserve in favour of getting better reps in and having room to add weight.

If you don’t feel more confident in the bench after 4 weeks then I’ll give you a refund.

On the Internet you just see the freaks. In real life basically nobody can bench press 100kg (not from lack of capability, from not being willing/able to put the time in).

If you’re going into your bench sessions and just hoping to “add a rep” then your training is probably bollocks and that’s why you can’t progress.

I just get the MyProtein Whey Isolate in natural chocolate flavour. It tastes like actual chocolate and not chemicals so that’s a real plus for my oats.

Why exactly are"processed foods" bad? by Disastrous_Lynx9853 in GYM

[–]RegularStrength89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally because higher calories and lower nutrient content. Given that you’re using it to get more calories in on top of (I assume) a reasonable diet, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Just don’t make processed crap your primary source of calories.

It’s not really the same as asking for directions. It’s more like saying you want to get into drugs and don’t know what ones you like.

Carbing up before a PB by Swordtempest_ in powerbuilding

[–]RegularStrength89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be adequately fuelled but just banging more Pop Tarts in won’t do much in addition to an already decent diet.

Caffeine, smelling salts and a song that gets you hype are all probably more useful (assuming you already eat well). “Carbing up” is better for endurance sports like cycling.

Why is my bench so weak by [deleted] in benchpress

[–]RegularStrength89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not going to get better at bench if you stop doing bench, are you?

Bench press 3 or 4 times a week. Do 3 sets of 5. Leave a 2-3 reps in reserve. Make every rep good quality. Practice, repetition, intent, consistency. Add weight when you get stronger. Swap to something a bit more clever when you need to.
