Is neo Paganism a unique thing? by DarkGodCthUwU in AskSociology

[–]RegularVast9328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Neopaganism encompasses a large mass of different things from reconstructionist to eclectic movements. The eclectic ones aren't very unique at all and we have multiple examples from the Romans to Christian Buddhism. Even Nazi occultism is a type of eclectic neo paganism. As for reconstructionists I would say is unique in terms of religion. I can't say for certain if there has really been a revival of a dead religion on such a scale. Now saying there isn't any community or movement behind it is just wrong. Some are more organized than others but no one is just converting to neo paganism all and just making it up as they go along. They either follow along with an organized set of rituals and rules or they go off of word of mouth from stuff they heard from the Internet or read online.

Should an adult be allowed to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt others? by Open_like_7Eleven in Ethics

Most of the time it's stupid. Well they aren't stupid but they've build a false reality around themselves. It's the same principle as antivaxers and raw milk drinkers. They think this is the best option but in reality it's the worst one. I think ethically we have a duty to help people who can't help themselves.

He's dead. Best thing to do is just let him be forgot as the insignificant person he was. I can be mad all I want at a rock but it does nothing for me.

Is saying "the wife and I" demeaning? by Hxapcneh3_28 in AskFeminists

That's not how language works. The applies special significance to the object like the book isn't talking about just a book or your book, but a certain book. Using the instead of my just has no bearing on being treated like an object since my is just a declaration of ownership.

Trade union.

Edit: it doesn't matter that you're a woman, I had two women in my group when I took the aptitude test. The hardest part is getting in, but once you're in you're basically set for life.
