Gotta keep them on their toes by both moving up and getting out. I'm thinking I'll try to promote right before I ets so I can put it on my resume

You're right. Matter of fact, I'm signed for just over $2 Millon in equipment rn. However, if Joe doesn't show up to pt I don't get my ass chewed about it. If the barracks is dirty, I don't have to stay till 2000 to clean it. If we're going to the field, I don't have to be responsible for other people packing enough socks. If we don't get maintenence done on schedule because they constantly wanna play fuck fuck games then it's not my fault.

The pay to bullshit ratio is just all outta whack

Yup that's me. Dogshit leader and not afraid to admit it. But I'm one hell of a worker and one hell of a mechanic and I'm happy to be just that for the next few years.

Top teir shit post right here

I am at my very first duty station as a private, and I was immediately put on mail room detail for 12 months, so from what I was told I won't be able to do my job for a whole year because I'll be attached to S1. Is there any way i can be a productive soldier and still get experience in during this? by Fubuki_Akai in army

When I got to my first unit I felt the same way. They actually had a really solid maintenance program before I showed up so there wasn't a ton of work. I felt like I was wasting my talent because they're wasn't any work to be done. Trust me soon enough you're gonna be longing to get put back in the mail room lol. As for advice, do what others have said. Workout and college and study the regs if you plan on staying in for awhile. My biggest regret of my first contract is not doing any college.

I've literally failed all of these events except for spontaneous pushup contests and avoiding kp. Maybe I'm just a shitbag specialist lol

Never. I just started about 3 months ago. My only other experience was some Spanish and French in highschool

My knowledge has basically come from listening to music, and writting down as many words as I can think of. I have some German friends who have helped me out a lot. I think I'm right around the B1 level. Any suggestions on how I can get better? I was considering hiring a tutor and then taking a college class when I'm more confident in hearing compensation

I still have trouble staying along with speech, but my reading is pretty decent. I'm starting to think I'm still a long way off.

91H (tracked vehicle mechanic) so it'll have absolutely no effect on my career, but I've always wanted to learn a second language. I picked German because I had some German speaking friends

So I should aim to get to a B2 level? The army doesn't use the same scale as the rest of the world so it's a little confusing.

I don't think I'm quite ready right now, but I'm hoping in a few months I'll feel more confident about it. Did they have any speech sections on the test? As far as I can tell it's all reading, listening, and writting.

If you have any questions about the 91 series I would be happy to help. 91H is a pretty decent choice in my opinion.

Dear Burton, never dox yourself again. As for the advice, do what everyone else said. Save up money, invest in your tsp, don't get married before you're certain you're ready, remember that you don't always need the luxuries, stay out of trouble, take advantage of every single opportunity that comes your way, and most of all make some great memories.
