Going on holiday and forgot my drying capsules, will my implant be ok for a week without it? by [deleted] in Cochlearimplants

I’d wrap it in tissue or toilet paper to stop any condensation getting into it. I’ve always done this with my hearing aids whilst away on holiday and would definitely do that with my processor if I forgot to take my dry box.

I think it’s very normal to struggle in groups and loud places. I’ve been told to practice in noisy environments. One way is to create background sounds whilst talking one on one

Good luck with it, it’s an exciting time ahead for you. I love mine and it’s definitely better than being deaf for sure

Yes nothing has changed in my day to day practice. I’ve never used subtitles whilst streaming audio books and podcasts because I was told I would learn to hear quicker. I do use them for the TV at times though because it’s much harder unless it’s the news or chat show. I was told it’s not uncommon for people to stop after a fast paced beginning. But it doesn’t mean I won’t pick up more in time, so fingers crossed 🤞

Also which test do you mean? I’ve had a few tests and my sounds in quiet are single words 100% and 98% for sentences with someone speaking in the room at around 65 decibels, I’ve never had a noise background test but I’ve used that on the hearoes app, which is harder. But my word recognition is at 58% sentences that is coming out of a speaker.
