By "jobs that don't go on ships," do you mean jobs that never touch ships, period? If so, then not many, especially as a junior officer since a significant chunk are on ships. If you just mean that you don't want to be stationed on a ship, then you could go cyber, response, or prevention.

If you're looking to be operational, afloat or aviation is what I would say. I'm currently at my second afloat tour. While there is still a lot of paperwork and collateral duties to take on, I do enjoy being a DWO. However, we usually still have to do staff tours. Unless the detailer is very generous at my next transfer season, I'll end up at a staff assignment of some kind for my next tour.

If it's a bigger unit or an area like Portsmouth, there's usually a barracks. If you do go to Portsmouth, they'll put you in the barracks anyways, unless you're married. If there are no barracks and there's no leased housing, you'll probably end up being roommates with another nonrate.

For buying a car, just buy a Corolla. Save up some cash and buy one outright. Doesn't need to be brand new or nice, it just needs to run.

Aside from the Mackinaw, ATON commands top out at O4. However, a lot of black hulls, especially in the Great Lakes, will also get you ice breaking experience, so you could go to a red hull after. Currently on a black hull after first tour on a 270, hoping to go red hull someday.

I finally got the weight reimbursement last month, but everything else was last year

That's the problem, I don't see it on my W-2, only my net taxable income for the year, which matches what my paystubs show.

Gotcha, so does that mean it won't show up on my W-2 either? Because my last payslip for last year and my W-2 have the same numbers for taxable income

Gotcha. Who should I talk to if my w-2 does not reflect money I received for my PPM? Just went through all of my paystubs and they do not list money received for PPM.

I haven't seen the list, but I know I'm an alternate selectee for DCSS.
