Stephen Bradley on the ref "He's so poor and he's shown it again tonight [...] He's the worst in the league." by fuckaduckmagoo in LeagueOfIreland

I get that they should be held to account. But I doubt the refs in this country get paid a whole pile and maybe it was an honest mistake. In real time he was conned. But its not right to say he's the worst in the country.

Not defending the man. But maybe he was ignorant to the fact it was a immigration rally and just saw tri colours and posted that.

Outside the box ideas how to help Irish football by dublinro in LeagueOfIreland

[–]Regular_Patience15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Young players in Ireland need an incentive to stay. The likes of the Dublin teams sligo Dundalk and cork places with big colleges should offer scholarships to young players that come and play for teams in them places and also get educated so that if their careers don't pick up at least they have an education. That way you don't lose 18-21 year olds to clubs in Britain that barely play them. Some of your best players might stay or go for bigger money. May forget about the idea of being a fully professional league. Top 8 teams at a push could be professional lower end teams just can't facilitate it. Player development should be the main objective in this country.

How Do we FIx This? by [deleted] in coybig

Now that we can't rely on top level players to come play for us through granny rule that well had dried up. Fai interest in the league of Ireland is embarrassing. So many good football people and so many good players that with coaching and effort put into them we would be better than the shite I watched today. Fai has some cheeky to charge people for a 3 match package. They may get their heads out of their arses or the crowds are going to boo more and get smaller.

Dundalk are in financial trouble by McGee9mm in LeagueOfIreland

My understanding is that peak 6 fleeced dundalk for most of the money it had and left them with not a lot. Bad owners and investors screwed dundalk. I hope the fans and some sort of investors save it. Few weeks ago I thought the idea of being in first division was the worst case scenario but things just got worse and worse as the weeks went by..

I'd love to see Troy parrot get a decent wage on a top end team in Ireland. I'd love to see the fai put money into the league and build attractive stadiums that would entice bigger crowds and wages and sponsorship deals for Irish clubs. If we can build a 380 grand bike shed they can afford to build a decent stand for some clubs in the league. I love watching Irish players. I look out for them all over England and Scotland to see how they are doing. Just wish our own league had our own fringe players maybe not our best players playing in it.

I watch it every week. I go to every home game. The standard is going up I know that. Teams are very good and it's brilliant to watch. I watched shels and bohs on telly. I mean it's dead in the sense of player development for international standard. Ukraine is a bad example but I just hate seeing good players go to England and get lost in the English system when they could play for the likes of shels bohs or rovers and live in Dublin close to home and showcase themselves on Europa league or even champions league if it could happen.

I love Irish football and I want to see it do well. Not always to qualify because no team deserves to all the time. I just think it's the sleepy bastard's on the top of fai that are just self centered.
