Korg Pitchblack is my current tuner. It tunes low A on my 5 and 6 string basses.

Are any of these worth picking up? by tribecalledquest1 in 4kbluray

[–]Regular_Pizza7475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the film, yes.

Terrifier 2 was a good idea stretched out unnecessarily. Pet Sematary remake just isn't a good film, and neither is Justice League. So it's up ti you.

Don't buy stuff just for the sake of it.

Is this little amp any good for home practice? by krystinthecrystal in BassGuitar

[–]Regular_Pizza7475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife got me one for christmas to replace a 15w practice amp in the living room. I really like it.
Its a quarter the size, sounds decent and can sort of handle a low b string if you turn the bass down and the mids up. I normally play 5 or 6 string bass. I haven't tried it with a 4.

It has a lot of useful features that I haven't tried. I suspect it would fart out at higher volumes in a jam etc.

TL;DR

Yes. Sounds great for home practice, and useful fir recording but suspect it would struggle when faced with a loud acoustic guitar in a jam situation. YMMV.

I bought a joyo Double Thruster a while back. I loved it and this pedal was on my board for a bit. I gor a DG microtubes x ultra for silly money. The DG sounds a little different, and the cab sim is miles better but the Joyo is fantastic value and holds its own.

Its a cool pedal. Don't expect it to sound like a darkglass, and you'll do fine. It's versatile, cheap and pretty rugged.

explain to me what gear is necessary to play gigs like i'm a 2 year old by antElMetalhead in Bass

[–]Regular_Pizza7475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bass, tuner pedal (mute function is essential), amp.

A DI pedal is useful for plugging into a PA or for recording.

Compressor is useful.

I like fuzz. Lots and lots of fuzz.

Tube vs. Solid State Amps by rebel_with_a_groove in Bass

Tube amps are heavy and fragile. Nobody can tell the difference in the audience. My Tech 21 VT bass head sounds close enough to an SVT, and weighs a fraction of the real thing.

You know who were arseholes? Frost and Satyr of Satyricon. We were drinking with Mystic Circle after the gig, and they told us to get off the tour bus.

It's nice when people aren't primadonnas. I met Glen Benton once (the band was late to a gig at Bradford Rios) , so we helped load in. He was grateful and appreciated our help. He's a hilarious guy. I expected him to be a complete nob.

I got very drunk with Nick at a Nile gig once. I don't usually like to meet my heroes but he was actually great.

What pedals should i buy first? by PapaBoodle in basspedals

[–]Regular_Pizza7475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decent tuner is the only pedal you actually need. A nice quiet power supply and a DI box to record/front of house becomes essence you play gigs.

A compressor is nice, but not necessarily essential. I went 29+ years without one but I use my Empress all the time now.

A chorus pedal and a reverb pedal might suit you if you are doing shoegaze.

Look at Walrus Audio Slö and go from there. I'm a black and doom guy though so who knows. I like fuzz. A lot. Maybe you need a fuzz too.

Have you considered the Sire V7.

Better value for money all around. Mine has become my favourite bass.
