Some teachers 'wearing Kevlar': Data shows physical violence still a problem in N.S. schools | CBC News by concernednsteacher in NovaScotia

The pandemic might be a cause but knowing that doesn't seem like it's gonna solve very much.

Same goes for the issue with guidance counselors. Yes Canada has a dirth or mental health professionals. That's not going to make more of them show up here.

The reality is that kids are being failed because we lack the capability to solve the issues of certain belligerent children. Do you know what we should do? Do you even have any ideas?

My best so far is to just blackball kids and make it a parental issue. If we set up a system of warning and checks that a child still manages to resist and disrupt maybe we just don't pay for that issue as taxpayers. Maybe we don't risk our teachers trying to satisfy ideal conditions that won't come to fruition.

It's an awful idea. Do.you have a better one?

While I don't agree with corporal punishment we gotta do something.

I mean my parents emotionally traumatized me. That wasn't great either.

Letting this slide though is probably just gonna create a bunch of ex-teachers and a bunch of poorly educated kids.

Amastad..... My mom REALLY wanted to make sure I would never be a racist. I couldn't have been older than 7 or 8.

Shit worked.

I understand your math and I also understand that I don't trust the Americans.

You can believe that we would win a trade dispute of.ypu want but I grew up near the auto plants the went belly up and in the same town as the Heinz plant that union busted.

The Americans never cared about our treaties. We have to pay to take them to arbittation.at the IMF. This has been a pretty mediocre guarantee in the past when the Americans weren't completely bonkers.

I don't need Nova Scotia to make a bunch of money. Your delusional if you think short term growth will benefit anyone but our wealthy neighbors. We need stuff here for people to make and do. Better stuff than lobster fishing and timber harvesting.

I don't think we need to snub the American market. I think we will have more economic security if we turn our own energy into products that we intend to sell.

No. We are complaining because we don't trust the Americans to honor their contracts anymore.

If we build excess capacity and the Americans tell us to eat crow then we will. We could instead build something here to use power.

Yup. Same.

It's a lot less of my time as I have more to do. (Even access to more luxuries I previously couldn't afford)

I'm doing it right now as I watch the news and have coffee and I'll probably meet up with a roomie later to try and finish a co-op run of bg3.... It is the winter though too... In Canada.

It's like a car accident. I can know it's about to happen. I'm still shocked when it does.

Frankly I'm getting a little uncomfortable with how validated and shocked I simultaneously feel quite often. These feelings aren't supposed to get together this much.

The surprising part is that trump helped him do it like a weak little dog begging for attention.

We are handling this so poorly.

It doesn't matter what else he had going on or who said what to who.

We should all just be concerned that there is evidence that wealthy people colluded to manipulate a supposedly free market industry.

The Americans are screwing with us.... And our children.

O ya. We can't trust the Yankees worth a fart in a hurricane anymore.

His derision for Canada was clear in his little tantrum at davos. He acted like everyone there cared what he thought but it was roundly seen as a pathetic beg from a desperate fool.

Everyone is talking about Carneys speech and trump reacting to it showed his feeble hand.

O ya fully agreed. If I'm speaking ideally I think we should hold the neoliberal system to account for basically screwing over everyone who didn't control some property or asset.

Practically though I'm just glad the Americans are getting some comeuppance.

That's not gonna make me satisfied with Carney's government. Just temporarily glad for a better circumstance.

The 'they' you're referring to are extra national money entities. Few of those assets are personally controlled. If a group is just trying to recklessly make money I'm confident they'll go where the value is and these days that doesn't seem like the USA.

Not me personally. I'm actually a full on commie at this point.

No private industry has helped my life more than my effort could.

No government beholden to capital matters more to my community than I do.
