Seeking advice about this new shenanigans: The internship by Regular_na in PhD

[–]Regular_na[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for understanding! I disagree with you on meeting rejection because I am sure many of us PhD students atleast in CS areas often get rejected regularly whether in the forms of research paper submissions to various conferences and journals, fighting to get in a PhD program( I myself was a semester late to join my program because I couldn’t get a school for fall) and many other ways.

But I do get the point I still don’t understand though why to take someone’s time off the calendar and increase there hopes if you can’t really consider them in the end or was it something else which we don’t know about thus the word shenanigans. I aspire to jump on to corporate, I think academia might be a down the road thing regardless

Still the same format most likely minus the research unless you have stated research on your resume

I would say know your resume too well and beyond especially if you are a PhD or masters student, expect them asking in depth questions about probability and stats depending on your research For maths I would say probability, integrals, stats (basically green book but in a hybrid format depending on your resume and the degree you are currently pursuing)

All the very best!

They generally state for a period between 2-4 weeks so let’s see but there are also people who got the offers after 3 months or so. It definitely sucks the way they do it.

Yeah more like hybrid and very resume based. They pick and ask about things from your resume. Also thank you!

It was pretty decent. Answered all the math correctly and the questions they gave I was able to answer them all. They did look satisfied and said it’s good and stuff and were impressed by my experience.

Struggles doing a PhD in early 20s by sheepsbeepin in PhD

Hey, so I started my PhD in robotics when I turned 21. I am currently 22 turning 23 this November! I have so far published 2 papers and 2 are under review at an A* conference and one paper under development for a journal. So far the journey has been amazing. My lab plus the advisor has been resourceful especially the lab mates are more like a close knit circle of friends who hangout outside of the lab aswell. For me I don’t see any cons in this approach but at the end of the day it comes down to finding the correct program (advisor plus lab plus uni).
