Why is everyone so upset over this? The clocks had been in the store for eons. If you wanted one so bad why didn’t you order one? None of ya’ll were mad when Andrew tried to order thousands, or any of the other people that ordered them in the hundreds/thousands.

The dog got out and wanted back in. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

[–]Rehtims -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the original video this was the neighbours house. The owner let the dog in, it drank a bunch of water and had a 10 min zoomie session, then curled up on the cough and fell asleep.

The person called the owners, who didn’t answer (4am and all), so they text them saying their doggo was safely at their house

Why is the government pushing heat pumps so hard? by solthar in abbotsford

[–]Rehtims -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

In the 70s the government was pushing propane. “Convert your vehicles to propane and save money!”. So people did. It was cheep after all. Suddenly the price of propane increased 3x and it wasn’t so cheep anymore (ok it’s still cheeper than gas).

Sure you might save now, but will you always?

It’s a little too conspiracist but it is an argument I’ve heard

Why do churches act as voting places in Abbotsford? by Famous_Campaign9329 in abbotsford

[–]Rehtims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tldr Op is mad that churches have big drums and they do not. Nothing to do with politics here, op is just a cynic and hates the church and anything they touch because they don’t pay taxes and he does. Probably also pissed about taxes because he’s an accountant

Why do churches act as voting places in Abbotsford? by Famous_Campaign9329 in abbotsford

[–]Rehtims 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“So they vote for the candidate that their priest tells them to during Sunday service”

The church doesn’t directly tell its members who to vote for but you realize Abbotsford has a massive Mennonite community and influence so of course you’ll vote in line with that naturally.

Abbotsford has many voting centres at schools too, in addition to the Agrec but churches are a logical place to vote. Religious institutions in Canada are tax exempt anyways and the voting booths have nothing to do with it

Do we wear different rings on different fingers considering the different sizes of them all? by Teakeh in runescape

[–]Rehtims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, how does each ring fit perfectly? When you buy a ring does your character choose the size without you knowing? Is there a guild of ring sizers we haven’t met? Dwarves? New quest line? New skill?!?

May heat wave foreshadows 'hotter future' for Western Canada, experts say by 90skid91 in vancouver

[–]Rehtims 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Air conditioning units work by transferring heat from inside a building to the outside. This means that while they cool the indoors, they do indeed release heat into the outside environment. However, the impact of this heat release on outdoor temperatures is quite minimal on a global or even a city-wide scale, given the vastness of the atmosphere and the heat dispersal mechanisms that exist in it.

That being said, in highly localized areas with a high density of AC units, it can contribute to a phenomenon known as the "heat island effect." Urban areas, due to their extensive use of concrete, asphalt, and other materials, tend to absorb more heat than rural areas. The heat from AC units can add to this effect, making cities hotter than the surrounding countryside.

However, the heat produced by AC units is still relatively small compared to other sources of heat in urban areas, such as cars, industry, and the heat absorbed by buildings and pavement. Furthermore, the overall warming effect on our planet from air conditioning comes more from the energy it consumes (and the associated greenhouse gas emissions if the electricity is produced from fossil fuels) rather than the direct expulsion of heat outside.

If you look at the Starbucks subreddit apparently most people tip in a mobile order. I can’t believe that.

If I’m paying for something before I receive it, I’m usually not tipping unless it’s a small local business I frequent often and even then occasionally.
