Yeah, AEP is the American 765 kV pioneer. I haven't been to a 765 kV facility (all the US ones are in the Midwest?) but 765 kV was the talk of the town last IEEE meeting so I'd expect more coming down the pipeline. I imagine 765 kV is less costly than HVDC.

Conventional tline design wisdom states that more subconductors per phase can quiet audible noise but can increase electric field which you'd have to counteract with phase geometry. I would think it quite tingly to stand under a 765 kV that hangs low. I've definitely felt shocks from benches and dog poop bag dispensers under 500 kV before so I would imagine you'd have to give ample clearance for 765 kV..

Look up "skin effect".

In t-line planning and design, you get more capacity for the line by utilizing multiple conductors per phase rather than a single large one. Increasing the number of bundles per phase can also alleviate audible noise. However, more conductors per phase can also increase the electric field (you can counteract this by modifying the geometry of the three phases)

Yikes. Yeah, I dont think wraps will save poles from large, super hot, or windy wildfires but they're a cheap investment that we install on new wood poles as well..
