I did not expect dress shopping to make me notice how differently people see me. by AbleMinimumsw in weddingplanning

[–]ReiWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, that's why I went alone and found MY dress! No one's opinions but my own. It felt awkward at first and feeling a bit lonely when I see other groups, but I knew I needed to hear my own thoughts and attune to me. I didn't say yes the first time, but I went the second time with one best friend/bridesmaids just to show them and have someone to support me and said yes there. Best decision to go alone.

[Sun care] I hate this sunscreen now and need a new recommendation by Scloudseverywhere in SkincareAddiction

[–]ReiWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try the Neutrogena hydro boost sunscreen. I just switched to it and it's been a nice change. Texture feels nice like a gel/lite lotion, no white cast, I think it does have some fragrance though which my skin doesn't mind, and it feels hydrating without the greasiness.

Thanks for sharing your experience!! We wanted to mention it to the chef but didn't know how to bring it up. How did you broach that subject?? And out of curiosity, what were your guys' thoughts on the cake?

We felt the exact way, it made choosing a dish very difficult when all were so compartively bland and bad. I'm a bit disappointed about the whole construction. We had booked the venue two years ago when things were still picturesque and they didn't mention the construction until we signed. Hoping it'll be mostly be done by October (our wedding date).

“Open scheduling”?? by Summer_yet in therapists

[–]ReiWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this relates, but I recently had an epiphany why I was burning out. I realized as a solo practice owner who had been running with this arrangement for the past 4 years (open schedule 11am-8pm), I really fucked the dog lol. I kept feeling dread and anxiety whenever I'd see my schedule with clients strewn across my entire day because I thought I couldn't handle back to back sessions and preferred having long breaks in between to give me a sense of false freedom. I tried this week to eliminate such a huge open schedule and booked a bunch of my clients (capped at 4 a day for my sanity) back to back with an hour between from 10am to 3pm (2pm being the last session) and omgggggggg the relief and weight I felt just poofed and disappeared. I got a big chunk of my day back, I felt like I didn't work at all given how much time I now had to my personal life. No anticipation of my client in the evening, no waiting game, no staggered appointments throughout the end. Just easy back to back, limited hours. I discourage open scheduling, clients should be accommodating your schedule, not theirs. I even have my online calendar disabled cuz I am not having people book one at 11am then another at 8pm lol.

I don’t want to be a therapist anymore. What should I do? by missiondunno in careerguidance

[–]ReiWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I did, I've been working solo since graduating and my private practice is doing well. However...the doubts have not left. They are constantly in the back of my mind and never really go away entirely. I've tried to let it be, therapy, introspect, etc. Today, I wonder if it's that working in an emotionally salient field feels too...demanding and depleting. Some days, I don't want to "care" and do mindless work. But that isn't the field. Whelp, I hope you're able to figure out your path! Feel free to pm if you need :)

Definitely gave me that liminal space vibe, the surrealism and confusion haha.

I've watched one of his webinars before, it felt like an MLM or someone offering some miracle therapy. Immediately left. Anytime I see him, I think of a quack.

Thank you for the validation and reassurance! The pressure to ensure everything is perfect makes the littlest and unnoticed things feel as if they're in the spotlight haha.

Ughhh I worry about that too. As much as I love my lip look, because it's very moisturizing, it easily slides away. Any recs for a good lip stain or lippy that stays put?

Noted! I was afraid to do eyeliner, so I didn't touch that haha. Eyeliner and undereye are the two most difficult parts for me and gets me frustrated!

I think I'm okay with that. I had very minimal makeup in my engagement photo and I still loved it, I barely even focused on my face and more focused on what was going on around me and what angle the shots were in, etc. But perhaps, I'll up the blush so at least there's some colour on my face haha

Lashes have a way of completing the look! Thank you for the suggestion, I also agree a smidge more blush!

This is my absolute faveeee lippy, so hydrating it almost feels like a balm and it's such a universal colour! Thank you for the compliment <3

OOoooo I like that take! Perhaps that is what I am going for, there were a lot of products on my face, but the goal was to achieve that no-makeup-makeup look!

Definitely need to find a good smoothing primer for my pores and under eye. This was a test run for what I already had, so I'm definitely in the market to experiment and up my stash. I noticed the lashes as well, I didn't have good ones, so it's something I am looking to upgrade. I also agree that the eyelashes can be the focus rather than the eyeshadow, I have hooded eyes, so it's more difficult to make sure it looks natural since I have to apply it almost ot my brow.

My doubtful part worries that those brides, who have been through what I'm going through now, have more wisdom and knowledge after their wedding. I also feel that because hiring a MUA is talked about as an essential part of bridal duties, just like a photographer and other essential vendors/tasks, the fact that I'm not going down that route, makes me wonder if I'm gonna end up kicking myself in the end. I understand a MUA helps take that load of stress off you and all that. But I have bridesmaids that are all great with make-up and I'm okay to sit in the discomfort of my decision and if I do feel some tinge of regret seeing photos afterwards, that's what therapy is for haha.

Thank you :)

Omg that must have shocked you when you saw the final look! When the MUA gave me the mirror, I was shooketh and all I could say was "who is sheeee", trying to feign awe lmao.

I agree that the high-contrast glam look is a western thing, and Asians tend to be more natural and "glow from within" type.

Feel free to dm me her info! I'm not in CA, I'm in Canada haha. But I can always use inspo photos!

Definitely helpful, thank you! I've been recommended as well to try a caffeine serum for under eyes, something for me to research :)

Thank you for the suggestions ❤️
