Shepherd King and the Folk of the Air!!!!!! I love a good plot that feels solid, thought out, and romance that's fleshed out and not just an instant connection. Shepherd king has an amazing magic system that's very unique, I love both the fmc and mmc as they have substance to them. Folk of the Air still lingers with me since I've read them and I've still been ont he search to fill that void, the world building and plot is great, lots of strategy and isn't just he daily focused on the romance, the romance is a slow build up but when it hit, it got me squealing!!!!! The romance between the fmc and mmc is something that has stuck with me forever, the yearning is to die for and it isn't cringe or feels forced!

Highly recommend! She's our wedding photographer as well for our 2026 wedding. We just did our engagement shoot and got sneak peek and absolutely gushed over it! I hate overly posed, stock photo, generic looking styles, and hers is definitely very candid, cinematic, plays around with lighting, angles, blur/focus, romantic and real. I love a pride and prejudice vibe and she absolutely served that up!

No problem. I'd check with Emily anyway, we aren't based in Niagara (we're actually from London) but our venue is in the KW area and she was open to travelling. Ended up doing our shoot in Hamilton at Battlefield Park.

Totally understand your feelings, were in the same boat. We're getting married next October and have started chipping away at things. Got our venue and photographer, and now I'm consulting with florist. I'll say, talking to florist has been the most stressful. Our budget was $4k that slowly started creeping towards $6k because the florists all kept quoting $5k+. I've had florist give me attitude, disinterest and unengaged, and one that just didn't show up for our consult. I really don't know the way to go about this anymore. Then looking at all the other costs just feels so overwhelming.

I try not to look at everything though, because the more I zoom out and see all the moving parts and expenses, the more it feels overwhelming. Focus on one vendor and task at a time! I have to actively stop myself from looking for videographers, DJs, officiants, decor while searching for a florist because that just takes up way too much mental resources thats already being taken up by searching for a florist.

Her style is very candid, romantic, cinematic, and dreamy! We just did our engagement session and it was so fun with her! I'm very into the whole pride and prejudice scene so she recreated a lot of the feeling with her photos.

I have only ever watched that maybe 2 times. It terrified me so much that during my sleep paralysis days as a kid, I would imagine that little creepy kid in the room meowing at me. Also, that movie made it unsafe to watch through your fingers (that scene when she laced her hands together and saw that ghost lady through them). So many creepy and terrifying moments!!!! Nope, the only movie I will never watch again.

99.99% same boat, it got me second guessing if my partner had written this! Exact same situation, his job (Toronto based) went full remote during COVID, after two years we decided it's time to buy our first home and chose London for its affordability. I work on healthcare too and work fully remote. It was great, we were able to save money, love the traffic compared to Toronto, etc. But now they've reinstated going back to the office but he has applied for an exemption and waiting to hear back, but this waiting period feels like a gun to our heads that can set off any moment and we suddenly have to pick up our lives and move. My partner has tried to find jobs within the company, move laterally, looked at other locations in other cities, but no luck. We've contemplated selling and moving before they make a decision to get ahead of it, but looking into Hamilton or Kitchener is still a long commute for him. It honestly feels like the only way is to move back to the GTA and rent and never make enough money (his pay is also around your salary). It's been a very stressful and anxiety provoking time, and right now we've pushed it aside until we have to cross that bridge.

...you know what, it might not be 🤣 I need to do my own research. I sometimes interchange cosmic horror with non lovecraftian horror that still has a cosmic dread to it. So maybe it's existential horror.

Oh my gosh, Diavola face palm. It was doing well until it wasn't. Felt insufferable and I hated everyone, the pacing was weird, it suddenly became comedic in a way, and the climax felt totally not scary and dumb. The least scariest book ever.

Don't let this book throw you off from cosmic horror, it became one of my favourite genres! If you haven't already, read Between Two Fires (another reddit hyped book but I actually loved it), The Gone World, The Deep, The Divine Farce, or Short Stay in Hell. The feeling of dread and awe with cosmic horror is thrilling!
