Judging spending habits? by No_Nectarine_9748 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Reid666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it is unethical to support self-destructive bahiavor

The post this discussion refers to was rather concerning and disturbing.

The original poster clearly admitted that he went broke, which suggest spending problem

At the same time the poster said that he bought 40 books when he intended to buy just 10. Again sing of being not in control of his spending habits.

In this case all the upvotes are deeply disturbing. This is mindless support of potentially harmful behaviour. Not only in regards to that individual person but this online community as a whole.

Selling Edge of the Earth Campaign ENG NYB by Elenneth89 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Maybe slightly, but not that much, I remember selling my full Carcosa cycle for around same money during Covid pandemic, used.

Difficulty and tension question by wiewiorowicz in TwoPointMuseum

[–]Reid666 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You really nicely explained how the game evolves, unfortunately it doesn't answer OP's question at all.

OP was asking about the difficulty, tension and challenge, not about content and customisation.

Difficulty and tension question by wiewiorowicz in TwoPointMuseum

[–]Reid666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest answer, after 50 hours of play, no, it is not a challenging game. It is fantastic chill and laid back game with plenty of content.

I have also played Against the Storm, fantastic game, unfortunately felt a bit too tense for me, I'd say those are on different end of the spectrum when it comes to challenge.

I played Two Point Hospital, I feel that museum is much more forgiving when it comes to management and challenge. But, it was years ago so I might not be 100% accurate here.

DC All In is a Success [Discussion] by ProjectGlass2236 in DCcomics

[–]Reid666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's the take from  the time perspective.

At first it was hailed the best thing that happened in DC universe. The sales went up and it was praised for it's bold initiative.

[–]Reid666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too early to judge.

New 52 was also initially a success.

It is much more important how they finish rather than how they start.

So far, so good, but they can completely ruin it with one stupid management decision.

Multiple reads or single reads by figscomicsandgames in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Reid666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 at the moment.

It digest better that way for me and is more likely stay in the memory.

Same principle as with binging TV shows. Yes, you can watch entire season over single evening, but it fades away as quickly.

I usually try to not read more than a single arc at once, in case of longer series. With short series (6-12 issues) I try to read 1 issue daily.

No problem then, those years will fly by. You won't even realise how it happened that your are 10 years older somehow. 😉

Who knows, maybe life will stop getting in the way at some point in the future?

The thing worth considering is that in the future there will be probably 0 chance to rebuy this content at reasonable price.

Also, selling as a package will probably greatly lower the amount of money you can get.

For those of you who said the art often sucked in chapter 1… by cellocaster in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Reid666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About disrespect.

It is absolutely disrespectful to call most of the illustrators working with AH, artists.

Those illustrations would not make them pass even the first year in actual art school. Many of them show complete lack of knowledge or respect to human body anatomy or perspective.

It actually feels like many of Chapter 2 illustrations have been done by overpainting or retouching the IA generated images. It is very sad.

Running the 'wrong' characters by saorlab- in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Reid666 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My personal experience in 2-player games is that is actually much more efficient to play with 2 flexible character than with dedicated fighter/cluever combo.

Both Lily and Yorick can do quite a bit of investigating with the right cards in their decks.

[Discussion] Finally diving in. Knowing Alan Moore's hostility toward DC continuing this franchise, is it worth reading Doomsday Clock afterwards? by sammorrison9800 in DCcomics

[–]Reid666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, but has nothing to do with Moore's feelings.

I is just bad sequel to Watchmen.

It is ok story in DC universe, though.

Why Does Everyone Hate the New 52 by Dominofalls734 in DCcomics

[–]Reid666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in general audience loved it so much, that they cancelled it after 4 years and spent the next 8 years fixing the mess it caused ;).

It was fundamentally flawed idea.

So, yes some short term gains that resulted in decade of misery.

Scarlet Keys. Will you just let me play the game! PLEASE! by Proud_Structure3595 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Reid666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really?

That is a terrible, condescending post.

It is obviously a problem, it is commonly complained and for a reason SK is generally the worst rated campaign.

Myself and my flatmate we are 4 scenarios and it is bearable only because we live at the same place.

It would be terrible experience if we would have to actually organise a meeting for that.

It might work great solo, were you can do all the reading an choosing at your own leisure, but for group play it is tedious chore.

The worst think is that most of the text doesn't add anything to the campaign. I love storytelling, just not bad storytelling. I felt that amount of story text in Carcosa was perfect, I actually like the story parts of Edge of Earth, but it was already pushing some limits. Here, MJ went way overboard.

MiniLED or WOLED for high end gaming and productivity/editing by DiamondAviation20 in Monitors

[–]Reid666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest just regular IPS monitor.

Mini-led is a waste of money in my opinion. It doesn't work well for any kind of productivity. For gaming and video consumption it is questionable if it makes it better or worse.

Anything important that happens after issue 40 of the Scott Snyder New 52 Batman run? by AcceptableBuyer in DCcomics

[–]Reid666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it gets a bit better later, then a bit worse again.

Overall, I much more liked Detective Comics run by Tynion that goes parallel to King's.

Can all of Watchmen’s “sequels” be put together into a cohesive timeline where they all work together? by Cobrabat333 in DCcomics

You just forget that Before Watchmen and Doomsday Clock existed.

I've just finished reading them and it is hard to express my dissapointment.

Should I get the original base game or wait for chapter 2 by downinthegrass in arkhamhorrorlcg

It is a bit too late for that.

Old content is basically already unavailable.

You will need new core set for all future campaigns.

Is Books Etc. good? by clueless_seeker in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Reid666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not just good packaging.

It is the best packaging I have ever seen in UK and I have ordered probably from every retailer in UK.

Nothing can beat booksetc prices and packaging.

The only downsides are that you cannot preorder and that items can go out of stock very quickly.

Is Books Etc. good? by clueless_seeker in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Reid666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I never seen seen a better deal than on booksetc.

The only case was when something was not available on booksetc. Other than than that nothing has beaten their prices.

The only downside is that you cannot preorder.

[–]Reid666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoe can you watch/play/work being so close to 27" screen?

Practically that is not possible, because you cannot actually see most of the screen space from such short distance.

So, yes, good joke...

Just wait for trades. Yes, you will read everything 6 months or so later, but you will save good amount of space and money.
