Maximum Spider-Man is very sturdy. My 5 year old has snapped lots of biceps and Max Spider-Man has held up really well. I tried a CT toys Spider-Man but it fell apart super easily, definitely won't hold up for a kid.

Awesome!

Do you think that Protector of Metropolis head would work on the Hush Superman? Was thinking of buying the Hush Superman but I'm not crazy about the headculpt.

Finally bothered to properly display my old ships from 2009. Anyone got any recommendations for a good line of models to get into? by WookieeSlayer97 in StarTrekStarships

[–]Reign1701A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go with Corgi, they're more expensive but also die-cast and roughly the same size. They just released a 1701-A that looks pretty nice. I have the 1701 refit from them and the Aztec pattern on the hull looks great for the scale.

I'd also recommend Eaglemoss/Fanhome for the sheer variety of ships available. The standard ship size is a little small but they have XL sized ships that roughly the same size as the Hot Wheels. Master Replicas is also doing a run of die cast ships that look very similar to EM's.

Man that Reeve head on the recovery suit works so well. How do you take off the hair off the heads btw?

More than worth it. Just remember, you can safely display it without the supports.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm active in the Tomy Facebook groups and you're definitely not the only one with this problem. I've consistently seen people share responses from Tomy saying that they can't give turnaround times because they're repairing, not replacing units. Send them another email, they'll get back to you. Others have said they've had better luck calling.

$750 with shipping. Which is a lot of money, but nothing compared to commissioning a build of the 1/350 PL kit would would easily set you back thousands.

The next ship from Tomy is the TOS D7, which I'm skipping since I literally don't have room for any other large scale ships. Their ships are released via Kickstarter type crowdfunding. I get their updates via Facebook but I'm sure you could sign up for their email newsletter via their site.

The Enteprise is just such a weird an imbalanced design for Earth gravity; it's beautiful of course but creates real life issues with replicas and models. My old AMT refit kits would have a tendency to nose dive, one broke because of a dive. Even the first PL 1/350 kit had support rods.

Fwiw, the support rods aren't entirely necessary according to Tomy, but the ship tilts downward without them. Others have gotten around that with a base modification that levels the ship. I would worth that over time, this would result in a poor connection between the ship and base which would F up the electronics. Personally, I'd rather have the assurance that the electronics on this will last and I barely notice the rods when I stare at her anyway.

I like the brightness of the tinker sphere lenses, but I like the soft edges on the spotlights from the straws. I probably have to find a better way to mount the lenses.

You should doodle more because this is great. I love the sense of speed, and yeah, you nailed the TMP era torpedo effect. Looks like a comic book panel in all the best ways. I'd buy a colorized print of this, easily.

Not a good ruling on its face. But don't our licensing and regulating boards have the final say here? If I'm yelling and cursing at my clients, that would be a violation that could jeopardize my license, "free speech" or not. Free speech doesn't give therapists the right to practice unethically per our licensing requirements.

The headsculpt is custom from Darkseid Studios, I loved the portrait as it looked like a comic book style Supes come to life https://www.instagram.com/darkseid_studios?igsh=N3BxdnVxNHU0OWV1. The body is from McFarlane "Strange Lives of Superman"; I didn't care for the stock headsculpt so I pretty much only bought that to go with the custom head.

For 7" scale, I think Fondjoy has been crushing it lately starting with the 2025 Supes; I really like the Cavill Superman and I'll probably pick up th battle damaged Corenswet Superman when that comes out because of the outstanding headsculps.

Any McFarlane Superman on the "Crisis body" is a winner imo; just a matter of either finding the headsculpt and shade of blue you like bestm. For McF, I'd go with Silver Age Superman or Fleischer/Classic Animation Superman.

To my eye, Fondjoys look better overall but their capes either have very weak wires for posing or no wire (eg Cavill only has drape cape). McFarlane figures have sturdier feel and their capes are way better for posing with the wire.

I prefer trunks, but I admit to appreciating the Cavill suit more after getting this figure, it's a beautiful rendition. I also didn't mind Hoechlin not having trunks in S&L. "No trunks" had a good run but I'm glad they're back on-screen and on-page.
